Get up and dance for anti-bullying month!  The National Dance Day against bullying and fostering unity is this Wednesday October 26th.  Pacer's National Bullying Prevention Center provides great resources from bullying facts, bullying 101 presentation, to articles and even a quiz to see if you are being bullied or if you are bullying.  Take action and connect to these links below to educate yourself on the anti-bullying movement.

IEP Handbook Updates

Did you know that you can download our UPC handbook Parents as Partners in the IEP Process from our parent center website?  Find answers to questions like, who is required to be at my IEP meetings? What is the evaluation process and how long can the school take to complete testing? 

With revisions made to the rules and regulations made through the Utah State Board of Education on October 7th, we are providing a quick summary of notable changes.  This insert is to be used as a companion piece to the handbook until our new IEP book is ready for re-publishing.

Kids on the Autism Spectrum

Join us for an all day behavior workshop presented by Melisa Genaux. She will provide strategies for preventing behavior  escalation, for getting kids to follow directions, for improving behavior with  siblings, for increasing other des ired behavior (homework completion, social  skills), and for decreasing severe
misbehavior, such as meltdowns and aggression.  

This workshop will be held on Saturday November 12th from 9-4 pm at Scenic View Academy in Provo.

hostTemporary Host Family Needed

Abbey Wallace, International Student Life Coordinator at the American International School of Utah located in Murray is looking for a temporary host family for an 11th grade student from China who has Autism and studying at AISU. His host mother needs to leave town for a week to visit her ailing father.

The family would need to provide a private room, transportation to and from AISU, and meals outside of school. They will be compensated $40/day to cover these additional costs.
