PLEASE WELCOME C.W. Markham as our guest organist today.

SMALL GROUPS COMING THIS FALL... Based on a survey and your responses, our team is planning some exciting new short-term classes starting in September. One will be on the life of John Wesley.  Another will be a Bible study (to be announced). Another will be on Kids, the Internet, & Technology. During Advent we will offer a study on Mary entitled, "Not a Silent Night." Keep an eye out for more information. And if you have any suggestions for others, let Hilda Paxton, Bobby Pickle, Tricia Givens or Pastor Bass know. More are being planned for the spring of 2017.

UMW OF FUMC: Back to school time is here and requests for new shoes will increase. The UMW of FUMC has provided new shoes for children (1-18yrs.) for many years through the Shoe Voucher Fund. Each voucher request must be signed by a sponsoring agency and is redeemable at the Salem Kmart. Please consider making a donation to this fund so we may continue this program. Contact Susan Hoye (389-6584) or Judy Burton (728-9502) for more information.

FLOOD RELIEF:  With the recent flooding in Texas and West Virginia and now more recently in Maryland, it's time to replenish our stock of cleaning buckets stored at UMCOR warehouses nearby. Our neighbors need our support! Go to  http://www.umcor.org/Relief-Supply-Kits/Cleaning  to determine the contents of each bucket. Used buckets are acceptable as long as they are cleaned out. District UMM coordinators will be designating staging locations within each District where the buckets are to be picked up on Aug 27th then transported to central locations around Virginia before final transfer to UMCOR warehouses. If you have any questions contact Scott Dillard ( [email protected]) Conference UMM Coordinator, Pastor Bob Pihlcrantz ( [email protected]) Disaster Response Coordinator, or to find out where buckets from your District will be staged, contact your District Office.

KEY 73 and BASS'S SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES: Both classes will participate in the festivities of Rally Day (September 11) in the Fellowship Hall.  Beginning on Sunday, September 18, Key 73 and Bass's class will meet in the Key 73 Classroom for a combined session for the fall.  Please join us for coffee and doughnuts as we begin a new Sunday School year!
