CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS
First United Methodist Church
May 22, 2016

PEACE WITH JUSTICE SUNDAY: Your generous gifts on Peace with Justice Sunday support Peace with Justice ministries in the conference, overseen by the Conference Board of Church and Society and Peace with Justice work in the United States and around the world, related to the General Board of Church and Society.

SAMARITAN GIFTS/VIRGINIA UNITED METHODIST HOMES, INC., since 1948, has been giving financial assistance to residents who are unable to meet the full cost of their care. In 2011 the cost of providing benevolent care for deserving residents is nearly $705,000 which amounts to an average of $241 a day for those residents receiving assistance. Samaritan Gifts, which will be received from now until Father's Day, will help provide assistance to a resident whose ability to pay for care has been diminished. Please make your gift today.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGE GRADUATES!  Graduate Sunday will be Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Please meet in the fellowship hall at 9:45 a.m. with your cap and gown. All graduates will process in with the choir and we will sit together. A reception will follow the service. It is very important to know who will be participating in this special day. Please call (540-389-3776) or email Melanie Burton at  [email protected] no later than Sunday, May 29th with the following information: your name; the school you are graduating from; your degree (college students); your future plans (college and your course of study if you have decided, or job, move to a new city, etc). If you will not be able to attend but would like your name listed with the graduates, please let us know.

DIAPERS AND WIPES are still needed for the Urbaneks, who were blessed with twin girls. The girls have graduated to a size 1 in diapers. Donations can be dropped off in the church office.
