"You don't give your heart in pieces. You don't hide yourself to tease us." are lyrics to a song I've had on repeat over the last several weeks. It's a worship song about God's love, God's heart toward us. While Advent is a time we prepare to receive God's presence in our lives through the birth of Jesus, God is always ready to give. As we seek out the Christ child, Emmanuel is already with us. As we worship fully this season, remember that God's heart is full of hope, peace, joy and love - it's not fractured, nor is it wavering - it's a gift of Holy presence for all the world to see.
As it is written in the book of the prophet Isaiah: "Someone is shouting in the desert: Get the road ready for the Lord; make a straight path for him to travel! Every valley must be filled up, every hill and mountain leveled off. The winding roads must be made straight, and the rough paths made smooth. The whole human race will see God's salvation!
