"There is no courage without vulnerability." - Brene Brown

In our lives, we hold a high esteem for bravery. We lift up those professions and people who exhibit bravery and courage. Yet in that same vane, our society discourages the public display of vulnerability. As Brene Brown notes that to be deeply courageous we have to be vulnerable. As we heard last week Jesus calls us to live our lives a courageous people. To be in deep conversation with our ancestors through scripture and our neighbors through sustained dialogue. It is also through Jesus we witness the vulnerability of the human experience.

As we come into the season of lent, how can we live our lives as courageous beings who encounter each other and God with both bravery and vulnerability? When we live like Christ, we are living a counter-cultural life that infuses the bravery to love, and the variability of justice for all things that God has created. To live like Christ, we are called to live a courageous life full of bravery and vulnerability.

"Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong." 1 Corinthians 16:13
