Heart Mini Updates |
|
|
|
Here is what the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati has going on for the Heart Mini Marathon this weekend:
- For those that joined The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati Heart Mini Team, you can pick up your stuff at the Heart Mini Expo at the Duke Energy Center this Saturday
March 16. The expo opens at 10:30 AM. In years past, they had a pick-up
for groups. If they have a pick up for groups, go there, tell them your
name and team(Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati) and there should not
be a problem.
- The club needs two people to help with the fluid station waterstop for the Heart MiniMarathon. The bad news is that you need to be at the location
by 7:00 AM. The good news is you can come by and enjoy the RCGC Heart
Mini-Suite after you are done. If you want to stay in one of the rooms
on Saturday night, let us know. It is our way of saying thank you for
helping us out on this. If you can help, contact us and we can give you further details.
- Every year, the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati gets a couple of rooms in
the Westin to serve as hospitality suite for members and runners. We
provide food, drinks, showers, a place to stash your gear, and a
fantastic view of Fountain Square - where all the action is on race
day! Rooms will be available around 7:00 AM on raceday. We
generally find out the rooms late Saturday afternoon at check-in so
check your email for the room number Saturday evening or contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com.
Note:Only current paid RCGC members, and nonmembers who signed up for the Runners' Club Heart Mini-Team have access to the rooms.

2013 RCGC Flying Pig Updates |
|
|
|
Here are a few updates about the club's involvement in the Flying Pig Marathon. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
- Flying Pig Discount - The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati is a partner charity with the Flying Pig Marathon for 2013. As a partner charity, we get a lower registration rate for the Flying Pig Weekend events until April 19, 2013. Registration can be accessed through the Flying Pig Marathon website, www.flyingpigmarathon.com. Enter the coupon code at the Payment step of the registration process and the discount will be applied at Checkout. You will NOT be able to use the Discount Code during late registration at the Expo. The code is good for any of the events on Flying Pig Weekend from the 5k to the Full Marathon.
Note:PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THIS CODE TO FRIENDS OR FAMILY WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF THE CLUB OTHERWISE THE FLYING PIG WILL NOT ALLOW US DISCOUNTS FOR FUTURE FLYING PIG EVENTS!
Also, the discount is not valid with other discounts that you may have already received. If you need the discount code, contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com. Please consider raising funds for our organization. If you raise $75
for the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati, the club will give you a
free membership for 5 years and for $150 - 5 years free membership plus we will reimburse your 2013 Flying Pig Entry. Note: You need to be a current member of the Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati to use! You can join online at www.cincinnatirunning.com.
- Club Fluid Station - The Club has a Flying Pig Fluid Station at mile 22. This is one of our largest volunteer opportunities of the year. We need 40 volunteers; so please volunteer today. Volunteers receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the Flying Pig, free food and drink at the waterstop, the chance to socialize with other members in a relaxed informal setting, and the free entertainment value of watching the Mile 22 Fluid Station Captain freak out over what could happen in 2013. The 2008 waterstop dealt with fire, 2009 dealt with no uplifting music(Social Distortion is the last thing you want to hear at mile 22) until the marathon unexpectedly came through with the DJ, 2010 dealt with rain and flooding, 2011 dealt with being struck by lightning, see what 2013 brings. If you're running the full marathon, ask family, friends and coworkers to catch you at "Your water stop - Mile 22" or if you enjoy to watch people suffer, mile 22 is definitely the place to be. You can sign up to volunteer at our website.
For 2013 we are looking for a theme! In 2012 it was: What High School Did You Go To? If you have an idea contact us at cincinnatirunning@gmail.com.
- Club Booth at the Flying Pig Expo - The club is currently procuring a booth at the 2013 Flying Pig Expo which is on Friday May 3, and Saturday May 4. The booth is located in the center of the action. Working the booth is quite easy. You just tell people what a great group we are, hand out club newsletters, promote the Memorial Day Race, and answer any other questions that they may have about the club. We need at least 2 volunteers at all times to man it. If you can work the booth at the Flying Pig expo, sign up using the online volunteer form.
- Piggest Raffle Ever -
The Runners' Club of Greater Cincinnati is also part of the Piggest
Raffle ever with the Flying Pig Marathon for 2013. Adopt a pig for $5
for a chance to to win a 2013 Toyota Prius, select Runners' Club of
Greater Cincinnati as charity and the club gets a portion of the
proceeds. For more information, view The Piggest Raffle Page at the the Flying Pig Marathon website, www.flyingpigmarathon.com.
