Greetings!
It has been some time since the last of these newsletters.
When you are living inside your dream, as we are, time really does
fly by.
Last Fall, after our middle east tour ended, we returned to NYC
where the One-Man Circus in-a-Suitcase shows lifted the hearts of
many into hilarity and innocence at the Allen-Stevenson School and
the Levittown Library.
We stayed on Long Island to offer some CircusYoga workshops and
another One-Man show at the Parrish Museum in Southampton,
NY.
This spring, the One-Man Circus in-a-Suitcase
show was asked to be part of the opening ceremonies for the
Stepping Stones Museum's
NEW Celebration Courtyard. After the Mayor cut the ribbon I was the
first performer in their new theater.
In the winter of 2009, we squeezed in a trip to northern Vermont to
lead a Circus Around the World residency at the Waitsfield
Elementary School. One hundred and fifty kids explored the world,
new circus skills and their own dreams for two weeks.
In the spring, the Circus Around the World
school tour started off in Monroe, NJ where two schools
simultaneously ran off to study world culture and circus. The Oak
Tree School and the Barclay Brook School in Monroe, NJ hosted Erin
and I. Nearly three hundred and fifty 2nd graders rocked their
worlds.
The Circus Around the World returned to Bronxville, NY, under the
direction of Bard Goodrich. It was our tenth year in a row at
Bronxville Elementary School and one hundred and fifty 3rd graders
reported back to the school with an amazing show.
The CAW tour closed in Alexandria, VA. No less
than five hundred kids turned the John Adams Elementary School into
a circus. There were songs, dance, art work, wild animal acts
(courtesy of the K's) and then the 4th and 5th grades took the
stage by storm with their circus reports from around the
world.
As the summer tour gets underway there is still time to see or book
the One-Man show, get into the ring or join us in our yoga
circle.

The
Time Machine Circus
We unveiled our newest in-school curriculum program this spring.
Two-hundred 4th & 5th graders at the Riverview School in
Denville, NJ created the Time Machine Circus.
The TMC is an interdisciplinary curricular experience for
elementary school children Grades 3-6. Classes choose one decade
and one circus art (i.e. tumbling, juggling, clowning, partner
acrobatics, balancing, etc.). Students dive into American history
to discover broad social trends and movements and then create a
circus act that integrates their knowledge and research. The
learning spans the entire curriculum as we study culture, history,
and geography.
