San Gabriel Summer Nights continues with a free jazz concert this Thursday in front of the Mission Playhouse beginning at 6:30 p.m. Join Louie Cruz Beltran and his jazz ensemble for a night of good music, food and dance!

In addition, the music continues at the San Gabriel Library this Saturday afternoon on July 22. Join Jason Arimoto and his ukulele at the library from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a free concert.

Louie Cruz Beltran and his jazz ensemble will be appearing this Thursday in front of the Mission Playhouse plaza for a free outdoor summer concert as part of the city's Summer Nights series!

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. and food and dessert will be available for purchase from Pez Cantina Coastal Mexican Kitchen and Nomad Ice Pops. City to host meeting on the development standards for single-family homes
Meeting will be held on July 27 in the Grapevine Room
The city will be holding a community meeting in the Grapevine Room on July 27 to address concerns surrounding the "mansionization" and the development standards for single-family homes. The city is currently working on an amendment to the zoning code and would like input from residents on what they would like to see. The meeting will be held at 324 South Mission Drive from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

National Night Out to be held in the Mission District on August 1
Join the SGPD for an evening of food, music and fun
National Night Out is fast approaching! Join the city and the San Gabriel Police Department on Tuesday, August 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to celebrate National Night Out in the historic Mission District located at 320 South Mission Drive between Broadway and Santa Anita Street.

Police, fire and military vehicles and equipment will be on display, and there will be food and games for the whole family to enjoy.

Take a construction video tour of Marshall Community Park
2.35-acre neighborhood park slated to open later this summer
As construction for Marshall Community Park continues to move along, be sure to watch a brief video previewing what the city's new parkland has to offer. The new park will feature new playground and fitness equipment, a walking/jogging trail, restrooms and more, and is expected to open later this summer.

Pickleball and table tennis now offered
Community Services now offering two new games
Community Services is now offering pickleball at Smith Park at 232 West Broadway on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Played on a smaller court with wood paddles and a wiffle ball, pickleball is great for all ages and for older adults who wish to stay active but may have limited mobility. In addition, Community Services is also offering table tennis at the Adult Recreation Center at 324 South Mission Drive on Fridays beginning on September 15 in the Padillo Room from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There will be two tables available for play, and paddles and balls will be provided.

San Gabriel Library to host concert July 22
Jason Arimoto to perform original music with his ukulele
The San Gabriel Library will welcome award-winning musician Jason Arimoto and his ukulele this Saturday, July 22 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Originally from Hawaii, Jason will perform original music, which features a blend of his island roots with reggae and blues. Percussionist Brad Ranola will also perform in an ukulele-percussion duo.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE

Please be advised that a contractor for ACE will remove and replace the pavement along San Gabriel Boulevard from Valley Boulevard to Interstate 10 from July 10 to August 25. During this period, northbound and southbound traffic lanes on San Gabriel Boulevard will be intermittently closed for construction. The street will remain open, and at least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. More information about this project can be found here.

In addition, construction is also occurring on Del Mar Avenue from Norwood Place to the I-10 until August 10 while construction crews rehabilitate the pavement. The street will remain open, and at least one lane of traffic in either direction will be maintained. Please be sure to follow the city's Twitter account for the latest updates on these projects.
