Food, shopping at Lunar New Year Jan. 28
Free festival will feature dozens of vendors
Twenty food and dessert booths, 11 crafts vendors and 12 merchant booths will fill the historic Mission District on Saturday, Jan. 28, providing attendees with a day filled with eating, shopping and fun at the 3rd Annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival.

Festival-goers can chow down on everything from sushi tacos to potato swirls to dumplings and more at the Street Food Fair. In addition to the food options, there will be a craft beer and wine garden. 

The San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival will go from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28 in the historic Mission District (Mission Drive between Mission Road and Broadway). Admission to the festival is free.

Q&A on historic preservation ordinance
San Gabriel community members are invited to ask questions and share their opinions on the draft of the city's new Historic Preservation and Cultural Resource Ordinance at a meeting on Thursday, Jan. 19.

The City released a draft of the new proposed ordinance last month, and it is now available for review online. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 425 S Mission Drive.
Attend Boba with the Chief on Jan. 25
Attend Boba with the Chief on Jan. 25 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Asian Youth Center, 100 W Clary Avenue.  

This event is one of several i nitiatives s tarted by Harris to better engage the community and give residents an opportunity to interact with San Gabriel Police. 

Attendees can ask questions, raise concerns and just get to know Harris in an informal setting. Free boba will be provided by Tea Station.
Monthly financial report available online
The City's monthly financial report, which includes a revenue and expenditure summary as well as a trial balance for the month ending Dec. 31, 2016, is now available online.
  Mission Playhouse
Youth Theatre Workshop this Saturday
On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:00 a.m., the Mission Playhouse and San Gabriel Public Library will present "A Play in A Day!" Youth Theatre Workshop.

If you're between the ages of 12-17, join us onstage for this special one day workshop with LA Theatre Company Rogue Artists Ensemble. Hone your improvisation skills, work on your acting chops and create an ensemble performance all in a day.
Chinese-American New Year Festival 1/22
On Sunday, Jan. 22 at 7:00 p.m., the American Chinese Culture Association will present the "US Chinese-American New Year Festival." Commemorate the Year of the Rooster at the Mission Playhouse.
 
The festival will include cross talks, Chinese opera, song and dance performances.
