Pardon Our Dust.
Sheldon Theatre is Getting a Makeover!
The Sheldon's doors are closing for the summer, but when they open, you'll find beautiful renovations throughout the building and an amazing new line-up. The good news is Sheldon activities are still happening this summer at different venues like the Central Park Bandshell and Hobgoblin Stoney End, and many events are free.

Progress! Spring Creek Road-Hwy 61
What's been happening during the reconstruction of this critical intersection? A lot! Several houses had to be removed to make way for the intersection, and all removals are now complete, along with other grading, curb, and culvert work.
Spring Creek Road South is dug up and impassable so watch for the detour signs.

Fire Station #2 Breaks Ground
After years of studies, plans, and research, Red Wing's Fire Station #2 is rising up the west side of town. As you drive out by Kwik Trip and Burnside School, you'll start to see the station take shape. The facility includes police office space, a training room that doubles as a community meeting room, and a separate training tower. The grand opening is scheduled for February 2019. As chief Shannon Draper says, "Being closer to the person needing help can be the difference of life and death."
Watch the video of the celebration.

The Port Authority: What's in a Name?
Red Wing sits on one of four Minnesota ports along the Mississippi River--and this is where the Red Wing Port Authority gets its name. The Port Authority provides loans, land, and incentives to new and existing businesses throughout the region and along the riverfront. Could the Port Authority help you?
Contact Shari Chorney to learn more.

Only 37% of us in Red Wing over age 18 eat the five servings of fruits and veggies per day we should.
Here’s some incentive: the Saturday
Farmers Market
at the Depot starts next Saturday, June 1 from 8:00 to 1:00. Head down to Levee Street for fresh lettuces, radishes, asparagus -- and connecting with new and old friends.

The Red Wing Fire Department fired up Burnside School students this year with their new Burning Desire to Read program. Students who read the most pages received a fire department backpack, gift certificates to our local bookstore, and a ride to school in a fire truck! Andrew Van Campen, Leo Wells, and Abbie Christiansen were this year’s winners. Kids agree they had the best wheels in town to school today!

237 children attended the 2018 Bike Rodeo at the Red Wing Police Department on May 12th. Twenty-three of them were especially lucky and received new bikes as door prizes thanks to our local Elks Lodge. The bike rodeo gives officers a chance to talk with young riders about bike safety rules while having fun at the same time. Thanks to the Elks & the Red Wing Freemasons for their help!

Spotlight: Steve Anderson, Public Works
What's it like to drive a rig this big? Ask Steve Anderson. For 10 years he's been out on the roads busy collecting garbage and recycling. Maneuvering the huge red trucks we see around town around is easy for Anderson. His favorite part? Working outdoors, driving country roads, and seeing wildlife out on the open land. Thanks, Steve!
