When their jobs were moved to NYC, this suburban couple moved to the city. Their 7,000 sq foot home was cavernous as empty nesters. So they sold it and moved to a luxury building in NYC with 1500 spacious sq feet on the upper West Side of Manhattan. An outdoor deck overlooking the Hudson River was the perfect backdrop for the breathtaking city views, and a city sized BBQ! (View all photos)

The key to the smooth transition was in the planning, as seen in this short video explained by Denise Wenacur. ( View Video.) Having worked with them in their large home, we cataloged, measured and chose the pieces that would work best in their new city dwelling. ( See 'Moody Greys' Album) Scale furniture plans were created for approval, and to have in their hands when the movers delivered the furniture so no decisions needed to be made on the fly.

"They are so happy enjoying this next chapter in their life and I was so happy to be able to help them be City Chic!" ~ DW

ASID Design Summit, NYC

To stay current with Design trends, issues and best practices, ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) hosts a day long education Summit in NYC. It is a great way to connect with top professionals in the field and fulfill our required education units for the year.

This year the seminars were held at the A&D (Architects and Designers) trade only building in midtown Manhattan. It was sponsored by our favorite, Luxe Magazine! I had the pleasure of lunching with Sharon Summer of Luxe Magazine and several other very accomplished guest speakers.

TIP OF THE DAY: Which light bulbs to best use for a bathroom?

Evening plans were spent enjoying a fantastic dinner at Le Cirque with one of the guest speakers Terri Taylor, past ASID presidents, and veteran Interior Designers.
