Greetings Morgan Hill Community!
Morgan Hill's City Manager, Steve Rymer, was recently appointed as the next City Administrator for Rochester, Minnesota. Mr. Rymer provided the City Council with his formal resignation on August 1, 2017. His last day of service to the Morgan Hill community will be September 30, 2017. Steve indicated this was a difficult decision, "For the past 11 years I have had the privilege to work for the City of Morgan Hill, with the last 4 ½ years as City Manager. During this time, we have accomplished a great deal. As difficult as it will be to leave Morgan Hill, the position in Rochester provides me with an exciting personal and professional opportunity. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity provided to me in Morgan Hill."
The Morgan Hill City Council has made the decision to start an immediate internal recruitment for the next City Manager. Mayor Steve Tate shared, "As sad as the Council is to lose Steve, we are very happy with and proud of the organization he leaves us with. Since we are very confident that our next City Manager already works for the City, we will confine our search to internal candidates. Appointing internally will ease and speed up the transition process while providing consistency for our staff to continue addressing the many complex issues we face. It will also boost the already high morale in the organization."
The City Council will be actively soliciting the community for input on what is needed in the next City Manager of Morgan Hill through a survey to be released early next week. It is the City Council's goal is to have the next City Manager appointed prior to Mr. Rymer's last day. Questions or comments about the process should be directed to Mayor Steve Tate at
