Greetings!

Back in 2012 when voters approved Measure T on the Napa County ballot, it seemed like forever before the revenues would be available and we could actually start improving our streets. Measure T, effective July 1, 2018, will bring the City of American Canyon more than a million dollars a year in revenue that can only be used to fix our local streets. What seemed a long time away is now almost here! Planning  for the first five years of projects is well underway so that we can hit the ground running. Want to hear more? We will discuss it with the City Council Tuesday evening. Check out the report here for a preview.
On the Agenda...
Your City Council again meets next Tuesday, May 16th, at 6:30 PM at City Hall.  As the meeting begins, the Council will celebrate Philippine Cultural month and Public Works Week with proclamations.  The Council planned to consider a request from the developer of a townhouse project on the corner of American Canyon Road and Highway 29; however, that hearing will be postponed.  The City Council will consider a draft implementation plan for using your Measure T sales tax funds to improve our streets.   Click here for the full agenda.

Since our Last Update...

The City Council met last on May 2nd. During the meeting, the Council considered combining our current Open Space and Parks and Community Services Commissions into one group. After discussion, the Council declined to proceed with the merger.  The Council also entered into an agreement with the AHI swim team to help them use the ACHS pool instead of the City pool during certain times of year.  Click here to watch the meeting video.

Future Meetings

All meetings held at 6:30 PM at City Hall unless otherwise noted. Check here a few days before the meeting for the full agenda.

Wall of Honor & Tree of Life

The City of American Canyon honors our active military personnel with a Wall of Honor.  The Wall of Honor is located adjacent to the City Council Chambers at City Hall and displays pictures and information about American Canyon residents, their family or loved ones currently service in the Armed Forces.

The American Canyon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11099 developed the Tree of Life to remember the lives of American Canyon's deceased veterans. The name, service branch, and dates of service are imprinted on brass leaves and affixed to the "Tree of Life" on the wall outside of the City Council Chambers at City Hall.

If you have questions or would like more information about the Wall of Honor or the Tree of Life, contact Suellen Johnston at (707) 647-5337 or by email
Public Works Week
The American Public Works Association (APWA) has sponsored National Public Works Week since 1960.  The 2017 National Public Works Week theme is “Public Works Connects Us." This year National Public Works Week celebrates the vital role public works play in connecting us all together. Public works professional around the globe provide, maintain, and improve the structures and services that assure a higher quality of life for our communities.
