Hydro One Brampton presents City Council with a cheque for nearly _90_000
Saving money by saving energy
Energy conservation efforts at the City of Brampton have saved more than $4.4 million over the past six years. Some of those savings are in the form of incentives and rebates from utilities, but nearly $2.5 million can be traced to improving the energy efficiency of City properties. Projects have converted standard lighting systems to LED, improved insulation, automated lights and heating/cooling systems to only use energy when needed, and installed low-flow bathroom fixtures.
The amount of energy that the City has saved through these programs between 2009 and 2015 is equivalent to removing 730 homes from Brampton's hydro grid. The savings represent a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equal to pulling 545 vehicles off the road.
In October, Hydro One Brampton presented City Council with a cheque for nearly $90,000 in recognition of the City's conservation efforts.
