|Lobby Art Gallery: December Feature Artist, Alexangel Estevez
For the month of December, 2017, Alexangel Estevez's artwork will be exhibited in the City Hall lobby located on the first floor. Make sure to stop by and view the work of our featured artist next month!
Alexangel Estevez is best known for his passion of the great outdoors using oils on canvas to capture scenic views, such as cityscapes and landscapes. He enjoys being swept away with these awe-inspiring views as his eyes capture the scene and his imagination explores the details of nature that may otherwise elude others. He uses clouds as one way to express emotion in his paintings. By capturing that moment in nature, his goal is to take the viewer on that same journey and experience the scene as he did.
Alexangel's interest in the arts started at a young age in East Los Angeles. In 2006 he moved to the east coast to pursue his career in visual fine arts and attended Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. There he double majored in Studio Art and Graphic Design receiving an AA in Fine Arts in 2008.
Alex was then accepted at the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond VA and in 2011 was awarded his BFA degree cum laude with a major in Graphic Design.
He credits the influence in his paintings to the English romantic painter John Constable. Alexangel's works are currently exhibited in galleries located in Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia and Florida.
