Greetings from the Superintendent and City Schools by the (September) Numbers

Dear Fairfax Community-

Welcome back to school! This was my first opening at your new Superintendent and our first year in as long as I can remember that FCPS began the school year before Labor Day. I am happy to say our hardworking principals and staff, with your support, reported a very smooth transition and opening at our four schools.

It was so nice to meet many of you and our students at opening activities like the Daniels Run Welcome Walk (pictured with my gracious hosts, 2nd grade teachers Mrs. Wheeler and Ms. Andrukonis), Flavor of Fairfax, Eagles Fly By, Providence's K Safari, as well as the Back to School Nights. WELCOME DIEGO WILSON!

The City of Fairfax Schools is proud to welcome Mr. Diego Wilson as our Interim Assistant Superintendent. Many of you will recognize Mr. Wilson from his days leading the Fairfax Academy for Communications and the Arts in Fairfax High School.

Mr. Wilson joins the City of Fairfax after over 30 years in Fairfax County Public Schools as an administrator and teacher.

MEET OUR STUDENT REP NANDIN PADHERIYA!

Every year, the City of Fairfax School Board welcomes a student representative. The student is traditionally an elected senior from Fairfax High School, and is tasked to represent the students of the City of Fairfax Schools. The 2017-2018 student school board representative is Nandin Padheriya.

Nandin will spend this year attending school board meetings and presenting the student report each month. He will be able to weigh in on important topics and keep the board aware of issues in and around Fairfax High School.
