Project Update: Hamilton Road Central
Road closure to occur March 28, 2016
The next phase of the Hamilton Road Central project is scheduled to take place on March 28, 2016. Hamilton Rd. will be closed to through traffic for 10 days (weather permitting) for the replacement of two box culverts between Clark State Rd and US 62/Johnstown Rd.
Hamilton Rd. will be closed to through traffic north of Clark State Rd, and will not permit local traffic to travel any further north than the intersection of Hamilton Rd and Old Mill Dr. Access will be maintained for all area residents and businesses. No through traffic will be permitted on Hamilton Rd south of US 62/Johnstown Rd during this time.
Signed detour routes will be in place during the closure (click
here to view an attached map of the area). During construction, the following detours will be in effect:
Localized Detour Route:
Local southbound motorists will be directed south on Johnstown Rd/US 62 to the intersection of Mill and Granville St and then directed eastbound on Granville St back to Hamilton Rd.
Local northbound motorists will be directed west on Granville St to the intersection of US 62/Mill St. At that point, they can elect to proceed west and be directed north on 270 to Morse Rd, and then directed east on Morse Rd back to Hamilton Rd, or take Mill St north to Johnstown Rd back to Hamilton Rd.
Regional Detour Route:
Non-local southbound motorists planning to pass through Gahanna will be routed around the closure via a detour at the intersection of Hamilton and Morse Roads that will direct motorists west on Morse Rd to 270, then south on 270 to US 62 ultimately through on US 62 to Granville St back to Hamilton Rd and vice versa. (Please refer to the attached map above for details).
Non-local northbound motorists will be directed west on Granville St to US 62, and then directed north on 270 to Morse Rd, and then directed east on Morse Rd back to Hamilton Rd.
Motorists should expect and account for additional delays during this closure. Alternate north/south routes that may be considered during this closure should include 270, Stygler Road, US 62/Johnstown Road, and Reynoldsburg-New Albany Road.
