Project Update:  Hamilton Road Central Widening

The photo is of Clark State Road, looking east.

Construction of the Hamilton Road Central Widening project remains in progress and appears to be on schedule for completion in Fall of 2017. The City would like to thank drivers for their continued patience during the construction of this project.

Pending weather conditions,Clark State Road is scheduled to reopen to the public during the first week in November of 2015.  Access to Peace Lutheran Church will be maintained on Election Day 2015 in the event that Clark State Road is not opened prior to Election Day.

To date, the contractor has nearly completed the eastern leg of the southern roundabout area, which included the installation of a temporary signal and storm sewer at the intersection of Clark State Road and Hamilton Road.  Additionally, curb and gutter installation in this area is in progress, and nearing completion.  The curb and gutter, as well as the asphalt base for the western leg of the northern roundabout near Northeast school have been completed.

The first phase of the waterline construction is nearing completion on Clark State Road and Hamilton Road. Testing of the waterline is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

Trick-or-Treat or Beggars Night will take place in Gahanna this year on
Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 6 - 8 p.m.

For residents who will be distributing treats, please light up your front door area indicating "beggars" are welcome. Be sure the sidewalk or path to the door is clear of debris or plants that might impair their walking. Please also keep pets inside; this will protect them from being frightened or inadvertently biting a child. Drivers are urged to use extra caution during this annual event. In fact, children are four times more likely to be hit by a vehicle on Halloween than any other night of the year.

Daylight Savings 2015:  Get Ready to 'Fall Back'
November 1, 2015

Thanks to daylight savings time, you can sleep in a little longer this weekend!

The time change should take place automatically for most electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops and tablets.  But for those using non-digital alarm clocks and analog watches, the switch will take place at 2 a.m. Sunday morning (November 1, 2015),so make you set those clocks back before you turn in for bed on October 31, 2015.

With the time change occurring this weekend, the Mifflin Township Division of Fire  would like also like to remind residents as they change their clocks to remember to change the battery on smoke detectors.

Gahanna-Jefferson Schools Seeks Public Input on Master Facility Plan

Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools (GJPS) is seeking community input regarding a Master Facility Plan they are developing. This long-range plan will allow GJPS to identify future needs for its facilities.

GJPS plans to engage the public in a variety of ways, including community meetings. The first step in their public engagement process will be a facility survey. GJPS is asking the community to take a moment to complete the brief survey.

Once you complete the survey, GJPS would like for you to forward it to your neighbors and contacts who live in the Gahanna-Jefferson school district, but do not have children who attend in the district.

To complete the brief survey, click here .  For more information about the Master Facility Plan contact Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools at 614.471.7065.

Thank you for helping GJPS with this very important facility survey!

Holiday
2015 Holiday Lights Celebration Offers Hours of Fun
for All Ages
November 22, 2015

The Gahanna OH Convention & Visitors Bureau (GCVB) has unveiled their all-new Holiday Lights Celebration concept.  This year's event will kick off the holiday season on November 22, 2015 from 3 - 7:30 p.m.

Laurie Jadwin, executive director of the GCVB is taking time to answer questions and to share the exciting details about the new festival-like concept and what attendees can expect this holiday season.

Q:  What is changing this year for the Holiday Lights Celebration?

A:  This year, instead of a 30-minute parade, we are hosting 4-1/2 hours of activities and entertainment that will incorporate all of the elements of our Holiday Lights Parade tradition - and more. Simply put: it will be the same, just in a new and better format.

Q:  Why won't there be a Parade?
A:  The annual Holiday Lights tradition has been produced by the Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau, not the City of Gahanna. In staying true to our mission to attract visitors to Gahanna and engage our community members, we developed this idea to allow people from near and far to get into the holiday spirit for an entire afternoon and evening.

We tested this concept at last year's event and featured several attractions in advance of the Parade - live reindeer, horse and carriage rides, a game truck, holiday themed snow plows, and much more - and received GREAT feedback from businesses, community members and out-of-town visitors alike.
