Upcoming Events

Golden Bicycle Cruise

Bike ride along the beautiful trails in Golden, and then enjoy a small festival for the riders. Come at 6 p.m. to socialize, then the ride begins at 7 p.m., rain or shine! Free and open to all ages, the Golden Cruise will be leaving from the parking lot just west of the Golden Library on 10th Street. Each cruise has a theme and the theme for tonight is "Surf's Up!"

Join fellow riders on the last Tuesday of each month from April through October, and ride the wonderful bike paths of Golden!

Once again, the New Belgium Brewing Company will be pouring their fabulous Fat Tire Amber Ale and one other summer brew. The High Road Bluegrass Band, the Lookout Mountain Boys and other local bands will be serving up great music, and there will be food and fun for everyone!

There will be prize drawings after every ride for gift cards to Golden businesses, so be sure to get your drawing tickets! As part of their Inspiring Health campaign, St. Anthony's Hospital will be sponsoring the drawing for the cruiser bike at the end of each cruise so don't miss your chance to score a sweet new ride!

Under the auspices of the Golden Civic Foundation, volunteers from Golden's nonprofit organizations will be helping with set-up, tear down, and manning the beer garden in exchange for a cut of the beer proceeds. The Golden High School boys swim and dive team will be acting as course marshals, and will also receive a share of the proceeds. This is a great chance to support all the fine folks doing wonderful things in our town, so grab your kids and a couple of friends, and join us on the last Tuesday of the month from April through October!

We have to have signed waivers this year, so save some time and print one ahead of time!

For more info, call Marcie Miller at 720-326-8636.

FAS: You can help Foothills Animal Shelter win $25,000 simply by voting daily through Aug. 31
During the last two weeks of the Rachel Ray $100K Challenge, a daily voting contest will take place August 15 31. If Foothills Animal Shelter ends up within the top three shelters with the highest amount of votes, out of all 50, it automatically qualifies them for a $25,000 Community Engagement Award, which they would have a good shot at winning. With the average cost of care per animal being $247, that could mean helping save another 100 lives. Details and daily reminders will be posted on Foothills Animal Shelters Facebook page during the 17-day voting timeframe. Like them on Facebook and encourage your friends to do the same! … Cast your vote now!

  • Mesa Drive, from Ford to Ridge Road
  • Deer Springs Lane
  • 5th Street from Ford to East

Heritage Road: Overhead power lines on Heritage Road are going underground
Sturgeon Electric began boring operations on Monday, setting vaults and preparing the hillside for underground utility lines. The work began on W. 4th Avenue, and will work south toward Berthoud Way. While the construction is primarily outside the limits of pavement, traffic may be minimally impacted from time to time.

Clear Creek: The lights of Christmas in August?
Not a snow flake in sight or a jingle bell to be heard, but we'll be ready when the time comes! If you noticed some activity down on Clear Creek between the museum and the Billy Drew Bridge, those are crews getting the electrical power ready for the lights of the season.
