Clear Creek History Park in winter Greetings from the North Pole! At least, that's how it felt last week. Hopefully you've begun to thaw a bit from the winter blast that took us by storm (literally) last week. This week is proving a little more tolerable and doesn't require a sled team to make it to the grocery store. And we do have some events well worth venturing out for!

The Polar Express Train rolls out of the CRM beginning November 21 for a unique theater experience. Also on Friday, the CSM Music Program offers holiday favorites with their Seasonal Sing. And don't forget the Holiday Art Market, which opened last weekend and runs through December at the Foothills Art Center.

Read on for more events and happenings in Golden, and have a great week!

Around Town
Miners Alley: Construction moves forward

Construction on Miners Alley began last week, but the snow slowed things down. Weather should allow for more progress now, and crews anticipate completing both blocks this week.
Tucker Gulch Trail

Once again, the weather last week threw a wrench in plans, however, most of the walls have been formed and crews are now just waiting for favorable conditions to start pouring concrete.

Completion of the project is projected by the second week of December. That is, of course, weather permitting!
Clear Creek: Ice pack normal!

The ice pack on Clear Creek caused some concern in late 2013 and early 2014, but City staff said that the icing from last week's storm is normal, with no expectation of ice-caused flooding. Raw water was diverted to the water treatment plant at the seasonal pump station due to ice at the head gates, but that too is normal.
Building a Sustainable future for Golden

A sustainable Golden Last month CSAB and a panel of local experts began research into potential projects to address the threats of climate change on our community with the goal of improved understanding of climate adaptation needs and resources. The panel will use a common-sense approach with a keen eye on the City's fiscal responsibility to formulate recommendations for opportunities and projects that City Council may consider. In addition, Golden is participating in a statewide Local Resilience Project, sponsored by the Colorado Municipal League, that will identify possible local actions and resources needed from the state and federal governments.

Improving our resilience as a community is a key element of sustaining Golden and we want to hear your thoughts. Visit our new Climate Resiliency page, and use the form there to give us your feedback.
