Project Updates
US 6 & 19th Street Interchange project

Final construction plans were delivered to Kraemer, the contractor for this project, and they have sent out bid packages for subcontractor bids. The deadline for subcontractor questions is Nov. 18. Plan bid openings will be Dec. 2
2015 Utility Replacement

Sewer line rehabilitation is waiting on a schedule from the CIPP sub-contractor. The water line install at 200 Jefferson County Parkway will be completed this week, and crews will be moving to water vault install on De France Way late this week.
Stormwater Work

Mowing off Rimrock Dr. The mowing operation at Tucker finished up yesterday, and crews moved over to Rimrock Dr. Pictured right are crews mowing in the ditch off of Rimrock Dr. No ditch is too steep for our crews!
West Fork Kenney Run Drainage Improvements

The new sewer line from Jackson to the west side of the gulch was completed and rejected by both the City and urban drainage for not meeting specifications, so the contractor will be re-doing the line. 

Paving and concrete work on 24th Street are now complete, and the 23rd St. culvert base was formed last week.
Corporate Circle School Traffic

The final report is almost done! Staff will meet with the schools next week.
Upcoming Events
Unmanned Aircraft Systems Public Meeting

The City of Golden will be hosting a public meeting on our use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 911 10 th St. 
 
This new technology will be used by the police, fire, public works, parks and communications departments to serve several functions that include aiding in public safety, fire detection and tracking, mapping, surveying, arial imagry, and community relations. The Police Department will be conducting a presentation on the UAS which will demonstrate just how useful this technology will be for the city and community. 

Additionally, two policies have been drafted and will be shared with those who attend. Your comments, questions, and suggestions are encouraged! 

Please join us to learn more about the UAS and take advantage of the opportunity to have input on this great new technology. 
Economic Development Commission Meeting

The Golden Economic Development Commission will meet November 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Works building. 

At the meeting EdComm will consider the following items:
  • The Jefferson County Business Education Alliance will brief the board on a JCBEA proposal to develop a list of of job readiness skills for Jeffco students. 
  • Connects Work Space will update the board on a new proposal.
  • The EdComm board is considering a reorganization of the work plan structure.

GURA Meeting

GURA will meet on November 10 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street.

At the meeting, GURA will consider the following items:
  • Resolution 145 - Conveyance of Prospectors Alley to the City of Golden
  • Resolution 146 - Conveyance of 1250 Jackson Street Parking Garage to the City of Golden
  • 2016 Budget finalization
  • Monthly reports

CBAC Meeting

CBAC will meet on November 11 at 7:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street.

At the meeting, CBAC will consider the following items:
  • Sales Tax
  • Review Council Budget comments with CBAC
  • CBAC final recommendations for 2016 Budget
  • Discussion of calendar and agenda City Updates

Jeffco Innovator's Workshop

On Wednesday, November 11 the Jeffco Innovator's Workshop will host an informative and entertaining presentation on the ins and outs of getting a product or company video made for your business by master storyteller and video producer Craig Spinks of Quadrid Productions.

Admission is free but space is limited so please  RSVP online.
City Council Meeting

Golden City Council will meet on November 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 911 10th Street.

At the meeting, Council will consider the following items:
  • Consent Matters (please see the meeting agenda for a full description of all consent matters under consideration)
  • Exchange thoughts and ideas on regional transportation matters with CDOT Executive Director.
  • An ordinance to refund the remaining 2006 Water Revenue bonds by issuing 2015 Water Revenue Refunding bonds at a lower interest rate.
  • Special Events policy update.
  • Public Hearing on the Capital Improvement Plan and 2016 Operating and Capital Budget.

Here's what's on tap at the Golden Library:
  • Homework Help at the Golden Library - Nov. 12, 4-6 p.m.: Sharpen your pencils and your skills! Need help with your homework? The Golden Library and Colorado School of Mines Phi Gamma Delta fraternity offer free help for students in grades 1-12 and in any subject.
  • PAWS for Reading - Nov. 14, 2 p.m.:
    Read with a four-legged friend from the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program. Dogs are ideal reading companions because they create a relaxed, comfortable and safe environment for sharing books. Registration is required and children registering for this program must be able to read on their own
  • A Fancy Nancy Tea Party - Nov. 17: That's a fancy way of saying that there's a tea party and you're invited! Wear an opulent dress, bring a grownup and join us for tea, snacks, and fun! Ages 4-11. Registration at the library required.
  • Tuesday Night Book Group - Nov. 17: Join other readers to discuss "Orphan Train" by Christina Baker Kline.

Around Town
Suspect identified in Recreation Center Burglaries

Randolph mugshot with glasses The Arvada and Golden Police Departments have identified Zechariah Randolph (DOB 6/17/85) as the suspect in two recent recreation center burglaries and motor vehicle thefts. Randolph is pictured right both with and without glasses.

Randolph is approximately 5'10" tall with a short beard, eyeglasses, brown hair and blue eyes. Randolph was identified from tips received from the police departments' Facebook posts.

Randolph mugshot without glasses On November 4 at approximately 9 p.m., the Arvada Police were dispatched to the APEX Center on a call of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The victim allegedly had his wallet and car keys stolen from his locked locker by Randolph, who then allegedly stole the victim's 2011 blue Toyota Prius.

Mugshot of Randolph without glassesThe Golden Police had a similar theft at the Golden Recreation Center on November 3 when the suspect was caught on video entering the Golden Community Center. The suspect entered the men's locker room, where he allegedly stole a wallet with credit cards, miscellaneous items and car keys to a 2014 black Volkswagen Jetta, which was subsequently stolen.

According to Detective Johnson of the Arvada Police, "We are obtaining search warrants for other vehicles and believe we will identify additional victims as we continue our investigation."

Election Results

Here are the election results from the Jefferson County Elections office. For more Jefferson County election results, visit  www.votejeffco.us

For Mayor, Golden voters chose to keep incumbent Mayor Marjorie Sloan, who received 74.36% of the votes.

Incumbent Councilor Saoirse Charis-Graves kept her District One sea with 53.93% of the votes for the District One seat.

Casey Brown won the District Two Councilor seat 51.77% of the votes.
