Maintaining Healthy Trees

Whether it is blossoming trees in the spring or the turning color of fall foliage, trees themselves are an attractive part of the community year round. Not only are trees aesthetically beautiful, they provide ecological and economic value to the community.

Their importance is why several City departments, including Planning and Economic Development, take a direct interest in trees throughout the City. From tree retention provisions in City Code, to requiring new development to abide by specific landscaping requirements,  to planting and maintaining trees in public parks and spaces, the City is continually invested in trees within our community.

Poulsbo Tree Board members and city planners recently attended a seminar titled Quality Trees, Quality Cities sponsored by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources. Among many of the concepts that were discussed was the dangers of tree topping. DNR has launched a campaign to educate communities on the danger of tree topping. PRV Stations to be Installed on Viking Ave
The Viking Ave PRV Station Installation project was awarded to Olympic Peninsula Construction, Inc. in August. Construction is anticipated to start in September and will likely be complete by November. The project consists of two PRV Stations that will be installed along Viking Ave, between Finn Hill Ave and NW Commerce Street.
