Good evening,
We hope you had a great Christmas!

To spread some holiday cheer, Santa was spotted driving through the streets of San Gabriel wishing everyone a merry Christmas this past week. If you didn't get to see Santa, be sure to catch a video of him here. Also, now that Christmas is over, Athens Services will begin picking up Christmas trees on January 2 through January 16, 2018. Residents who wish to dispose of their tree may leave them on the curbside for pick-up.

Now, here's what's making news for the week of December 27, 2017.
San Gabriel Police Department now offering text-to-911
Residents can now text emergencies to 911 within San Gabriel
As part of the Los Angeles County Text to 911 system, the San Gabriel Police Department is now equipped to receive emergency texts via 911.

To use the service, text a brief English emergency message to 911. Be sure to avoid abbreviations and emojis, and keep in mind that photos or videos are not accepted. Please note that all text messages sent to 911 will be treated seriously as emergency inquiries.

Calls to 911 are still encouraged in the event of an emergency, but text-to-911 is now offered as an alternative.
