Good evening, San Gabriel:
We have two exciting projects to share this week: new paving is currently underway on portions of Broadway, California and Pine Street as well as the Alhambra Wash's new ramp into the San Gabriel Square Shopping Center on West Bencamp Street. More information on both projects can be found below.

Finally, a final reminder of our Drug Take-Back Day on April 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the San Gabriel Police Department. This event is an excellent way to safely dispose of unused or unwanted prescription drugs - no questions asked.

With both of these items in mind, here's what's making news for the week of April 25, 2018:
Explore the origins and influence of Flamenco in Jornada

Strict enforcement of parking permits begins June 1
All-night parking permits may not be used for RVs, commercial vehicles
An important note about commercial vehicles: beginning on June 1, 2018, we'll be strictly enforcing the rule that all-night parking permits may not be used for any truck, trailer, van or pickup truck whose primary purpose is commercial in nature. Placing a temporary permit on a prohibited vehicle will not prevent it from being ticketed.

New paving underway at Broadway, California and Pine
Funds provided by the 2017 CDBG Street Improvement Project
Good news, motorists: we're now paving portions of Broadway, California Street and Pine Street, courtesy of funds provided by the 2017 Community Development Block Grant Street Improvement Project.

The project began construction in March 2018 and provides street repaving, resurfacing, and access ramp replacement on Broadway, California Street, Pine Street and Live Oak Avenue. Check out the entire scope of the project at the link below, including photos of a newly paved portion of Broadway.
Roadway construction underway at the Alhambra Wash
New West Bencamp access ramp to San Gabriel Square now complete
To help mitigate traffic as a result of the Alhambra Wash Project, construction crews have constructed a new access ramp to the San Gabriel Square Shopping Center on West Bencamp Street just west of Del Mar Avenue. A temporary traffic signal has also been installed at the intersection of Del Mar Avenue and Bencamp to help control traffic.

While construction is underway, pedestrian access on the west side of Del Mar Avenue between Norwood Place and south of Bencamp Street is closed due to construction.
