Get ready to celebrate the Jubilee

Communities across England are preparing to come together to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and many civic groups are busy making the final preparations for their parties, picnics and other activities (including the launch of a celebratory beer)

The civic movement will have a big part to play in the celebrations over the next few days so we thought it would be useful to share a short summary of what different activities are taking place by some groups.

  • Addingham Civic Society -  A weekend bonanza of free events in Addingham (read more here)
  • Civic Society of St Ives - The civic society have joined forces with a local pub to offer a limited number of commemorative bottles of beer (read more here)
  • Great Harwood Civic Society - it will be street party galore in Great Harwood thanks to a £5000 grant (read more here)
  • Leominster Civic Society - A new tree has been planted by Leominster Civic Society to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee. 
  • Marple Civic Society  - The society has made a donation of £500 to Friends of Marple Memorial Park towards the cost of a new garden 
  • Malvern Civic Society - - Whether you enjoy talks, walks, churches, tours or history there is something in Civic Week to interest everyone (read more here)
  • Pelsall Civic Society - An opportunity to learn about the Coronation and attend a tea party (read more here)
  • Portchester Civic Society - Attend a Diamond Jubilee Quiz and street party in Portchester (read more here)
  • Scarborough Civic Society - The society are well underway with "Painting the Town" in celebration of the Jubilee (read more here)
