Greetings!

In case you haven't heard, I wanted to share that the Colorado Civil Union Act - Senate Bill 2 - passed the Senate Judiciary Committee tonight on a bi-partisan vote of 5-2. Thank you for your support! And, thank you for being a religious voice in support of equality for all loving couples and their families.

Two members of our coalition testified. I testified on behalf of the entire coalition and the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber, pastor of the House for All Sinners and Saints in Denver, also testified. You may read my testimony by clicking here. I will also share Pastor Nadia's testimony when she has a chance to send it to me.

I also want to extend a deep and heartfelt thanks to the six ministers who attended today's hearing to provide pastoral care for anyone who may have needed it. The testimony on this bill is often emotional and difficult to hear. So, several members of our coalition offered to help provide pastoral support. I am grateful for Kierstin Homblette's role in organizing this effort. If you may be interested in providing pastoral care at a future committee hearing, please contact Kierstin at commintern@fusden.org. This is just one more important and significant way that you can support gay and lesbian couples and their families in Colorado.

The next step for the civil unions bill is the Senate Finance Committee. The bill may also be heard before the Senate Appropriations Committee before it heads to the full Senate. While we anticipate the bill passing the Senate with bi-partisan support, we know we still have a great deal of work to do in the Colorado House of Representatives. Your continued support and involvement is needed and appreciated.

Thank you once again for your support of all Colorado families and the opportunity to work alongside you in the cause of equality!

Best wishes,
