Calendar of Events for ASSOCIUM GAIN Members
one

We are pleased to let you know that our new website will launch very soon. Some time after launch, as part of our upgrade plans, we will introduce a section where ASSOCIUM GAIN members will be able to advertise their organization's event dates! The Calendar of Events is where you will be able to list your conferences, workshops, galas, etc. - diarized for all to see. This is another complimentary feature of your ASSOCIUM GAIN membership. You will also find ASSOCIUM event dates in this section, as well. If you are a Broker and you need to know when the next Continuing Education Credit Session will be held, you will be able to check out the Calendar of Events section.

In the meantime, please email solutions@associum.com with your event information and we'll post it in our next Newsletter. Don't forget the Pillars of the Community section below - and it will also be replicated on our new website in the near future for twice the exposure!

two Fraud and Your Employee Benefits Plan

According to Benefits Canada, nearly 95% of all benefit plans have been affected by fraud. According to the Canadian Health Care Anti-Fraud Association nearly 20% of all claims are fraudulent, depending upon geographic location.

"An intentional deception or misrepresentation that the individual or entity makes knowing that the misrepresentation could result in some unauthorized benefit to the individual, or the entity or to some other party."
Canadian Anti-Fraud Association

Fraudulent claims

Fraudulent activity affects all plans. Unless detected, fraudulent claims are paid by employers - and very few are detected. This can mean the difference between maintaining or improving a plan and having to increase rates or reduce coverage. Fraudulent claiming abuse or misuse can take many forms. Sometimes, the fraud is committed by a practitioner or their staff, without the employee's knowledge while other times, fraud has been committed with the plan member's involvement.

three Outsourcing Human Resources Administration

Retaining top employees and attracting qualified new ones is critical to any organization. However, seeing employees as a too easily renewable resource can mean the loss of top employees and a shortage of qualified replacements.

People are the most valuable resource of any organization, yet they are also, most often, the single largest expenditure. Consequently, employees represent the greatest potential for both gains and losses to an organization. Securing the most qualified workforce and keeping them motivated requires a planned approach to Human Resources administration. As such, more and more organizations are viewing the management of their "human capital" as a strategic priority.
