Thanksgiving is a holiday all about traditions
Food, Football, Parades, and Giving Thanks!

What's your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

Barb - I enjoy watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the National Dog Show with my daughters while we cook for Thanksgiving!

Lisa - Most years, my birthday falls on or right around Thanksgiving. So in addition to pumpkin pie, I always get a birthday cake! What's another sweet treat on one of the best eating days of the year!?

Timmy - I love cooking for and being with my family.  18-25 depending on the year! We need 2 turkeys!

Dana We split the day between two family celebrations. Lunch with one side, dinner with the other. Lots of eating!

Karen E. - One of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions is going to my son's godparents' home the day before Thanksgiving to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with them and their big family. Another tradition I love is watching the Macy's parade while my daughter and I make pies for dinner.  And finally my Mom, daughter and I also always go shopping or to a movie on Black Friday while my husband and son go hunting on the Eastern Shore.

Karen B. - One of my favorite traditions is to attend the Loyola-Calvert Hall "Turkey Bowl" game on Thanksgiving morning. I started going to it in high school when it was played at our old Memorial Stadium! Fun piece of trivia, this is the oldest continuous Catholic prep-school football rivalry in the United States (over 95 years)! Prior to the 10 AM game, folks used to meet at Jerry's Belvedere Tavern for "Sour Hour." Friends in Roland Park used to have an outdoor party after the game to continue the tomfoolery. This was always a source of conflict in my house, as I should have been home helping my mother prepare the Thanksgiving meal instead of chasing cute boys, but alas, I would usually go to the game!

Leslie - Sports have always been a staple of my Thanksgiving weekend. I rarely spent Thanksgiving in the same place or with the same people because I moved so often, but I always tried to watch whatever Kentucky basketball game was on and as much football as possible. After high school, I spent most Thanksgiving weekends working college football or basketball games, and sometimes both.

Lauren - My favorite tradition is watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the morning before traveling to see my family in Pennsylvania. I was in the marching band my freshman year at Towson University and we were one of the bands marching in the parade that year! I'll always remember marching down the streets of Time Square and feeling so small in such a huge city. Ever since then, I can't wait to watch the parade and reminisce on the amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Happy Birthday!

We have two staff birthdays in the month of November!
November 1st was Leslie's birthday and November 28th is Lisa's birthday.

From the Desk of Barb Clapp...
I always look forward to my Thanksgiving routine. I start my day off with a great workout, so I can burn those calories before the big meal! After my workout, I start to cook the Thanksgiving meal with my daughters. We all enjoy chatting while we're peeling potatoes and baking the pies, but I mostly enjoy getting to spend quality time with my girls. I'm so thankful for the time I get to spend with family on Thanksgiving and I'm thankful for all of you!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Barb
