A Garden of Verses: Poetry Day in the Garden

California poets welcome the season and National Poetry Month by sharing poems that celebrate our Garden, all gardens, nature and the environment of this fragile earth and out into limitless space.
   Stroll the Garden's paths anytime throughout the event time to enjoy the art of the spoken word performed by poets in the Garden.

Wildflower Walks
WEEKENDS Now thru April 29
Saturdays at 10 am / Sundays at 1 pm
Guided walking tours with Garden nature interpreters featuring beautiful California wildflowers and seasonal highlights. Tours are approximately 60-90 minutes.
Free with standard Garden admission fee.
Tours depart from the admissions kiosk.

Visit your backyard Super Bloom at California's Native Garden! Experience a beautiful exhibition of California wildflowers and enjoy many wildflower activities, from guided walks through the Garden to plein air painting to floral arranging!

An acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist, Sarita Dougherty presents new work showcasing the vibrancy of California native plants and her personal relationship to them. Redefining plein air, Dougherty's vivid works display a synergy with the land she paints from, capturing imprints of her direct interventions.

Roland Reiss: Unapologetic Flowers and Small Stories

First Saturday Art Walk, 6-9 p.m.

Exhibition focuses on the work of acclaimed Los Angeles artist Roland Reiss who devoted much of his teaching career to the Claremont community. On view will be selections from two of Reiss's best-known bodies of work: the "miniatures," sculptural tableaux suggesting human dramas in familiar settings (1970s-90s), and recent floral paintings that vastly expand the expressive potential of one of the most conventional subjects in the history of painting.
