Spring marks the time each year when recipients of the Cabarrus County Education Foundation teacher mini-grant awards become a reality in the classroom!

We have had so much fun traveling around throughout the district to observe these special projects in action. Read below to learn more about the program and view some projects from the 2013-2014 school year.
Innovation in the Classroom
In 2012, the Cabarrus County Education Foundation began the classroom mini-grant initiative, funding special projects at all levels, elementary, middle and high schools within Cabarrus County public schools. Project allowances range between $250 and $500 and vary from environmental awareness and school beautification projects to robotic science labs and speech therapy units.

Applications are submitted by an October deadline and monies awarded at a special reception in December. The grant selection committee  is comprised of district staff, administration and Foundation members and graded on a rubric according to scope, sustainability, creativity and innovation, cost/impact ratio, and alignment with Cabarrus County Schools curriculum goals.

CCEF recipient of CCS Administrative Golf Tournament Check
In an address to the Cabarrus County School Board of Education on Monday, March 10, Dr. Katherine Propst, Assistant Superintendent, officially introduced Rachel Wilkes to the school board and presented the Foundation with a check of the proceeds from their Administrator's Golf Tournament.

This past summer, Dr. Propst decided to turn the CCS school administrator's annual summer golf outing into a fundraising tournament for the Foundation. We are so very grateful for this generous contribution and look forward to partnering with CCS to make this an annual fundraiser each summer.

Thank you, Dr. Propst and CCS staff!!
