April Dinner Meeting
40 project update
Great informational meeting on April 28th  with INDOT as our guest speaker. Special thank you to Trevor Hassler and Debbie Calder. Spotlight on business was Pizza Hut of Brazil and Vectren. Updates on the US 40 project that were discussed are that the area between Chicago and SR 340 could be completed by late June which includes touching up parts of SR 340 and work on sidewalks in the area and in the next coming weeks there may also be temporary closures on Depot Street and U.S. 40 intersection will close for 2-3 days in the near future, making Walnut Street the alternate for north and south traffic.

Ribbon Cutting
CARE Ambulance
The ribbon was cut on CARE Ambulance's new bay area located on Jackson Street in Brazil.

Clay County officials joined CARE employees  for the ribbon cutting.

Four of the provider's five ambulances will be housed at the downtown Brazil facility while the other would be at the Clay City location.

Spotlight on Business
Wabash Valley Community Foundation
The Clay County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, is a tax-exempt public charity created by and for the people in Clay County. Formed in 1997, the Community Foundation enables people with philanthropic interests to easily and effectively support Clay County issues and causes they care about - immediately or through their estate plans.

The mission of the Clay County Community Foundation is to engage people, build resources, and strengthen community. We do so by creating permanently endowed funds to benefit the residents of Clay County. When you establish an endowment through a charitable contribution to the Community Foundation, we don't spend your gift; rather, we save it and invest it wisely to grow and use the earnings to produce grants. Now in its 18th year, the Community Foundation has over $5 million in assets and has awarded 629 grants totaling nearly $2.7 million!

The Clay County Community Foundation is here for you. For Good. For Ever. By channeling community expertise to you and taking your creative ideas to the community, together, we make a difference. We go beyond simply taking charitable contributions and making grants to charitable organizations. Our Board and staff are responsible for having in-depth expertise and spend most of their time in the community understanding challenges, identifying opportunities, and recognizing successful organizations. We also identify current and emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those opportunities, and help our region prepare for the future.

It is now easier than ever to enrich and enhance the quality of life in Clay County! Thanks to the Lilly Endowment's GIFT VI initiative's $1-for-$1 match, any gift made now through March 31, 2016, will be doubled when you give to a new or existing unrestricted endowment fund - up to $500,000 total!

In order for Clay County to receive these permanently endowed funds, the Community Foundation needs to raise matching dollars. We are already 25% of the way there, and once completed Clay County will have an additional $1 million in endowed funds that permanently benefit Clay County. Individuals may give to existing funds or establish a charitable fund at the Foundation by contributing a variety of assets. Community endowment funds allow gifts to grow and be leveraged with other gifts, thus allowing the Foundation to make larger grants with greater impact. The greater the gift, the greater the match, the greater the impact.

Please call 812.232.2234 to learn more about the Clay County Community Foundation and the Lilly Endowment GIFT VI initiative!
