CCIA Highlights
LETTER FROM THE INTERIM DIRECTOR

As we complete our sixth Energy Fellows Institute, introducing nine executives to the cleantech and energy industry, we're reminded of just how effective the CCIA community has become and of the committed suppor t of the member companies that participate in this progra m. Sincere appreciation to all our companies that support the educational agenda and to the participants who bring their thoughtful perspectives to this program.

CCIA, now with eight years of success in building and supporting Colorado's cleantech and energy economy, congratulates Chris Shapard on her new position as Chief of Staff of BioFrontiers Institute at the University of Colorado, Boulder. CCIA has flourished under Chris' leadership and while we're saddened by her departure, we're excited to see her progress in pursuit of this opportunity and sincerely grateful for her undaunted energy in leading CCIA.

After holding the role of CCIA's Communications and Deputy Director these past eight years, I will be assuming the interim role of Executive Director as CCIA works through the transition period and an assessment of expansion strategy in the coming months.

Please join us in congratulating Chris and extending an appreciation for her years of leadership in CCIA.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
Shelly Curtiss
Interim Executive Director

Policy Update
Capitol

The dust has finally settled on the 2017 General Assembly and we're proud to announce that CCIA has had another successful session. We were able to pass our investment tax credit (HB 17-1090) extension and further protect the Advanced Industries grant program. Additionally, the arcane Hospital Provider Fee was re-categorized which should take some pressure on the state budget moving forward.

Unfortunately politics and interest groups managed to kill the funding for our partners at the important Colorado Energy Office.  At this point we are still in the dark about how this will impact their programs and staffing.  We strongly supported the continuation of the energy office despite several unfavorable provisions included in the bill listed below (SB 17-301).

New Members
Apollo Hybrid
Wave Solar Technologies has become Apollo Hybrid, and they are one of CCIA's newest members. Apollo brings energy efficiency and more affordable solar power to the homeowner and small commercial building market. Their system combines solar thermal energy plus natural gas heat to drive a steam engine. The leftover heat runs the air conditioning and makes hot water in a cogeneration process. This system is friendly for the environment and affordable for the homeowner with a 5 to 7 year payback. It generates all the forms of energy a house uses, 24/7 if needed. You can reach founder and CEO Ed VanDyne via email.
