December 2016
Director's Corner
A Message from Steve Sanders

 Reflection on 2016:
Thank you to all that have given of their
time, talent and/or treasure in 2016!

As we come to the end of 2016 I'm reflecting on the many blessings FCA received throughout this year. Many of them coming after some adverse situations. Whether we'd like to admit it or not, blessings come after some of our most difficult/challenging times in life. Throughout the Bible, God shows his Glory through some of the most challenging situations - Mary was a virgin, David vs. Goliath, the list goes on. Having hope was not easy then and its not easy now. The more I mature in my understanding of the Bible, I believe God uses situations in our lives to teach us hope the hard way!

Personally, 2016 was a year of growth. My wife and I welcomed our son, Steven Michael Sanders II into world. In addition, I completed my first year as Metro Cleveland Director of FCA. Between just those two things alone I felt God was calling me into a new season of my life. I thank God for his Grace and Mercy to allow me to complete another year of pursuing his purpose for my life.

As the Metro Director of Cleveland FCA I believe God is going to do some major things in 2017. With the support of our new staff members, wonderful volunteers and State/Regional leadership, we plan to make 2017 our best year of serving student-athletes yet! We want to thank you for your continued support. Happy New Year and God Bless!

Thrivent Financial Event
December 1, 2016

Thursday, December 1, 2016 Thrivent Financial Group hosted an event where they highlighted Cleveland FCA to a group of parents and members of Thrivent Financial. Steve was able to speak at this event and share FCA's vision and mission. The event also included Mia Thomay and Sarah Ragland, a Lutheran West High School huddle leader and student athlete, who shared the impact that FCA has had on their lives.

It was wonderful to hear how FCA is making an impact in the lives of real coaches and student athletes in our local area. The  ministry is reaching into the local schools to reach people for Jesus Christ, offering hope and a purpose beyond the playing field.
