You're Invited: Miss Representation

Miami University presents Ms. Jennifer Siebel Newsom, producer of the documentary Miss Representation, on Tuesday, February 7, 6:30-8:45 pm, Shriver Center Heritage Room.

Miss Representation premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and aired on OWNL Oprah Winfrey Network in October. The film explores how the media's misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. Ms. Siebel Newsom's remarks will precede a screening of the film.

The lecture and film screening are sponsored by Miami University Women in Business, Panhellenic Association, Women's Center, Harry T. Wilks Leadership Institute, Center for American and World Cultures, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program.

For questions, contact Liesel M. Schmader ( or Jane Goettsch (

Congratulations to Jerry Miller, winner of the Alumni Service Award!

This special award is given only to those alumni of Sigma Alpha Mu who have consistently demonstrated commitment and service to the Fraternity over a multi-year period. As an advisor for over three decades, and as a house corporation director since the late 80's, Jerry's service to the Mu Psi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu is unequaled.  Further, he serves the national Fraternity as Chair of the Scholarship Committee, and also serves as Chair of our Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee.  He has also received the Chapter Advisor of the Year Award and also a Certificate of Merit from the Fraternity.

Thank you Jerry for your continued leadership to Sigma Alpha Mu. Congratulations!
