Update: Miss Representation

Last Tuesday, Miami was lucky enough to have Director, Producer, and Writer of Miss Representation, Jennifer Siebel Newsom visit to remark on her documentary and issues in it, preceding a screening of Miss Representation. Thank you to the Greek ladies and gentlemen that came out to support this amazing cause.

If you couldn't make it to the screening or would like to show it to your whole chapter, the film will be coming to the library shortly or you can watch it in the Women's Center located in MacMillan Hall.

We also encourage you to visit www.missrepresentation.org to join the movement. Ms. Siebel Newsom knew her film could make an impact because every person has at least one woman in their life that they love. Keep those amazing women in mind and stand up for them one day at a time, however you can.

Last Chance: Free Kaplan Practice Test for GRE, LSAT, & MCAT

On February 18th, Kaplan will be offering a campus-wide opportunity for students to take a free practice GRE, LSAT & MCAT, administered under simulated testing conditions.  Kaplan's Free Practice Test is a terrific opportunity for prospective graduate, law, and medical students to answer a critical question, "If I took the exam today, how would I score?"

We would like to invite you to participate in Miami University's Free Kaplan Practice Test.  At the conclusion of each test, one of our expert Kaplan instructors will give a short workshop on test taking strategies and answer any questions.  Test scores will then be returned to students. The tests details are as follows:

Student Court Applications!

Applications to be selected to serve on the Student Court for the 2012-13 academic year are now available online here.  This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to have an influence on Miami University and decisions affecting students.  This position is also highly respected by future employers.  The Student Court provides an excellent opportunity for members to hone their decision-making skills and leadership abilities while working in a collaborative and fast-paced learning environment. The position requires a commitment of approximately two hours per week.  We encourage individuals from all majors and years to apply for this opportunity.

Applications are due Friday, February 24, 2012, at 5:00 pm in 9 Warfield Hall.

Beginning that week, individuals will be informed if they will be granted an interview.  Two rounds of interviews will be conducted in the weeks prior to final decisions.  Please note that a recommendation is required and those are due Friday, February 24, 2012, as well.

If you have any questions about the process, Student Court responsibilities, or benefits to serving in this capacity, please contact

Joe Luizzi at luizzijm@muohio.edu  or Chris Taylor at taylorcm@muohio.edu
