Spring Clean Recap

On April 20th, more than 100 volunteers from the fraternity and sorority community came together to complete 10 service projects across the community, sprucing up everywhere from the alleys Uptown to Talawanda High School.  This event was a great success.

Pantene Beautiful Lengths Follow Up

The Pantene Beautiful Lengths hair-cutting event took place this past Sunday.  101 ponytails were donated to make wigs to give hope to patients going through chemotherapy.  Though most of these donations were pledged earlier this semester, there were many spur of the moment donations at the event.  This event was more successful than forecasted, and it was because of the strong support from the Miami community and selflessness of the donors.

Greek Community Achieves Fraternal Excellence

Last night members of the fraternity and sorority community gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of chapters and individuals.  Throughout the course of the evening, award after award was presented, each just as impressive as the next.  It was a great evening and a good way to recognize all that the fraternity and sorority community is achieving.

More details about the recipients will come next week, but you can read the tweets from the evening by searching the hashtag #FEA2013 on Twitter.

Greek, Casey Freedman, Doing Good!

Kappa Alpha Theta Casey Freedman was nominated and chosen as this week Greek of the week.  In her nomination, sister Sharon Young wrote:

"I'm nominating Casey because of her dedicated involvement to two very special programs. Casey is a certified victim advocate volunteer at the rape crises hotline. In order to become certified she completed over 45 hours of training and now uses this training to meet with rape victims once they are admitted into the hospital. She works on call from 6pm to 6am two nights a week. Although she can't talk about what she experiences at work due to confidentiality constraints, I know that she is doing so much for women in troubled situations through the rape crisis hotline. Casey is also a dedicated member to the Big Brother Big Sister program! Every week....she goes to Bogan Elementary through Butler County's Big Brother Big Sister program to visit her little sister! Casey has been a part of this program for a year now and has built a wonderful relationship with her little sister."

Casey is a junior psychology major with a Spanish and management minor. She is a dedicated member of Kappa Alpha Theta and serves as Chief Operating Officer.  Casey also served on the executive board of MUSF as the Vice Chair of Membership and is now.....the Vice Chair of Internal Relations.

Greeks Doing Good

This new section of the Cliff's Notes will highlight members of Fraternities or Sororities making a difference in the community.  YOU can nominate your brother or sister!  The member chosen to be spotlighted will be notified, and the nomination will be featured in the Cliff's Notes that week.  We encourage you to nominate a brother or sister if they have participated in service events and activities (such as going on a Global Business Brigade), if they have volunteered with the same organization for an extended period of time, or if they have done any other act of good that is worth recognizing.

You can find the nomination form HERE.

We hope you enjoyed this week's Cliff's Notes! We would appreciate any feedback at fsll@muohio.edu
