Greeks Doing Good: Pi Kappa Alpha
|
Last week, scholarship efforts by the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha culminated in the inaugural banquet for the Matthew "Moose" Gaughan Scholarship. Matt Gaughan, an alumnus brother who graduated this past May, struggles with cerebral palsy. Through the coordinated efforts of Pike's recruitment committee, the generous donations of the Dodd Hall Housing Corporation and Miami alum Walter Frank, and the Miami Family Development office, a scholarship program was created this semester in Matt's honor.
With the overall goal of recruiting the best men and using this program to tell a brother's story of perseverance, the men of Pike are excited to announce that the winner of this $3,000 scholarship is freshman Sean Neveril of Hinsdale, IL.
The scholarship is endowed by the University and is something the Pike house plans to award each year as a way to honor a brother that truly upholds the ideals of Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, Gentlemen.
