Zones of Regulation
All students and staff have been working on staying in the "green zone".  This is a social-emotional learning term used in the curriculum called "Zones of Regulation".  CRE is using lessons from the Zones of Regulation to instill a common language  when we talk about our social and emotional well-being at school.    SEL is an acronym for Social Emotional Learning and this is something we at Clover Ridge are learning.  There are 4 zones which include blue, green, yellow and red.  Your child should be able to describe them to you.  The link will provide you with additional information if you are interested www.zonesofregulation.com

Playworks
Thanks to the generous support of our PTO, we have been privilidged to work with Playworks, which is a company that consults with our recess practices.  Playworks helps kids to stay active and build valuable social and emotional skills through play. They focus on recess structures and activities which include leadership skills, conflict resolution, and academic success.

Learn more by visiting the  Playworks Website - OR ask your child about their experiences at Recess this week!

Cherrydale Fundraiser
Our fundraiser is off to a great start!  Thank you for those who have elected to participate!

You can show your support by registering your student for online selling and by sharing the brochure in person with friends, family, neighbors and work to help maximize the impact of this fundraiser.

Cherrydale has an amazing product selection and brands that your friends and family will love such as Allure, Tervis, Otis Spunkmeyer and Cherrydale Chocolates.  Say YES to our kids and register today!

Cherrydale Website

If you choose not to particpate in the sale of items, and would like to still contribute to the fundraiser, we are accepting tax-deductible donations made payable to the CRE PTO.  Our Parent Teacher Oorganization has arranged for  participation  prizes to be awarded to those students as well.

Please note that participation in our fundraiser is completely optional.

Cherrydale orders and donations are due back to school on September 25th and orders will be delivered on October 25th from 2:30-6:00.

Picture Day
Lifetouch will be here on Friday, September 14 for school pictures.  Students should bring forms that were recently sent home with an order and payment for pictures.  Picture Day Schedule

Personal Wellness Corner
We would like to welcome back all CRE students, including our new ones, for another wonderful school year, including our own PE teacher, Mr. Studnicka (or Mr. S)! In physical education we like to focus on skills rather than games. We will continue to work on our physical education standards and learning targets this year and our curriculum will be based off of the standards and learning targets. Our grading will be done on Empower.

The Twin Cities Medtronic Fun Run is a Family Events that Clover Ridge Elementary has participated in since we opened our doors. It takes place, Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at the State Capitol. This is an optional event where students (& families) have an opportunity to participate in a half mile or mile run. Forms have already gone home. Each person participating MUST have their own form. The cost to participate is $10 per person. Scholarships are available if needed. Students will meet at Clover Ridge Elementary around 7:45 am. All students that are participating will be required to take the bus to the event. Parents are welcomed & encouraged to ride the bus. We will return to Clover Ridge around noon.   We are looking for parent volunteers to help chaperone the event. If you are interested please call or email Wendy Ryun. All forms and checks (made out to TCM) are due back tomorrow, Thursday (September 13th). If you need a form, please email the teachers.

Students learned about our century club today, and were given a calendar. They were asked to keep track of their activity outside of the school day. If your child exercises at least 20 minutes a day they can write down either a 1 or a 2 on a calendar. A student can earn 1 point if they participate in a light activity like bowling, walking, or light playing. A student can earn 2 points for vigorous activities, like running, biking, soccer, dance, etc. These activities require your heart rate to go up and make you sweat.   At the end of the month, they can turn their calendar in to the PE department and we will keep track of points. There will be prizes earned for each student who reaches the century mark, or 100 points!

Lastly, we will be offering a dodgeball class after school on Wednesday and Fridays starting Sept. 26th through community education. Please call community education to sign up at 952-556-6400 or   click here.

We are looking forward to another wonderful year. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us either by phone or email.

Library Volunteers Needed
Volunteers in the library help with tasks such as re-shelving books, checking in books, helping kids checkout books, organizing the shelves, and a couple other odds and ends. It works best if you are willing to commit to a weekly shift but if it needs to bi-weekly, we can make it work.

The AM shift is from 9:30-12:00- helping kindergarteners and 2nd grade check out books. It would also be checking in all the books for the day.
The PM Shift 12:25-2:00- helping 1st graders check out and assisting 3rd grade with self-checkout. Also help students coming down during their Reading Flex in 4th and 5th grade.

Please fill out this form if you are interested or contact Terah Roise, [email protected]
Thank you!

Student Drop Off
One of the busiest times of the day is during student drop off and pick up.  It is important that all students are safe and we efficiently move 660 students, cars, and busses in and around our school.

Safety must be our priority and we need your help!  Please be alert and cautious.  Below are some links that will help to navigate your arrival and departure.  Please be aware of students crossing and follow the directions of our Safety Patrol.

Please adhere to Parking Lot Map when dropping off and picking up students. Students may be dropped off between 7:40-7:50 am at the front entrance.  All parked cars must utilize the front parking lot. Please review additional parking lot suggestions to ensure safety and efficiency during this time!

In short, pull forward toward the playground to allow for as many cars to load and unload at one time.  Please remain in your car as your child exists the passenger side door.  Families may choose to park in the lot and walk their child to the plaza.  No student should be unattended in the parking lot during these times.  Staff will be available to assist you.

Art Support
The art room is a wonderful creative space for our students at CRE and it takes many supplies to keep it fresh and exciting for our students.  Please consider helping Mr. Lenzmeier out with recyclable donations.   Paper based products are the best.  Paper towel tubes, toilet paper tubes, Kleenex boxes, small cracker boxes, plastic caps (milk jugs, water bottles,etc...), newspaper, leftover wrapping paper, etc...   Find Mr. Lenzmeier in the  CRE staff directory and click on his webpage for more ideas of items that can be donated.  Send items to school anytime and have your students drop it off in the art room.  Thanks in advance for supporting our students creative endeavors.
