HAVRE DE GRACE CLUB
Youth of the Month
**Benjamin J.**

Fourteen year old Ben has been a Club member for over 5 years. He actively participates in many aspects of the Clubs including Keystone, Book Club, Torch Club, First Lego League, Triple Play Sports Leadership Club and the Young Leader Academy. Ben has grown so much over the years improving his attitude and outlook on life. He makes new friends easily, is loyal to his older friends, and offers to assist staff members whenever he can. Ben credits the staff and after school activities with keeping him focused on his schoolwork and remaining positive when things got tough. He really enjoyed learning how to be a leader in the Young Leaders Academy over the summer. He says he aspires to be a psychologist, mechanical engineer or serve in the Army.

"The Boys & Girls Club is important to me because it's a nice, safe, and secure place to go after school with fun people and activities to do and it helps improve your daily and academic life."
-Ben

As the Best Charity/Non-Profit in Harford County
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
We believe that volunteers play a valuable role in transforming the lives of our Club members.  As little as one hour per week can make a positive impact on the life of a child.  Each Club offers opportunities to work directly with youth as mentors, tutors, sports referees and coaches, and teachers of games such as chess, pool, scrabble-or possibly ballroom dancing. If you have a special talent you would like to share- just let us know. The time of greatest need for volunteers is during the middle-to-late afternoon hours during the school year.

Club Kids Visit FIESTA DC!

Daija poses with some beautiful Spanish dancers

The Havre de Grace, Edgewood, and Aberdeen branches took 25 Club members to DC for their annual "Fiesta DC" Latino Festival. Once there, the Club members got to experience different cuisines from a multitude of Hispanic cultures. They listened and danced to different genres of Spanish music. Overall it was an amazing multicultural experience.

Havre de Grace Visits Delaware Day for Kids!

On Sept. 20th, 2014 our HDG Club went to the Wilmington River Front in Delaware to celebrate the annual Day for Kids with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. It was a great day filled with games, rides, educational activities, and music celebrating our youth. Day for Kids is a nationwide Boys & Girls Club event that takes place on the third Saturday of September and is a kick off to a year of families spending quality time together and the great services we offer to our community youth. Some of the activities offered were rock climbing walls, bouncy houses, face painting, and activities by The First Tee of Delaware.
