The Amazing Adventures of...
Teddy Bear Sean!

Teddy Bear Sean says "What a nice place to relax and learn about ROBOTS!"

Teddy Bear Sean was last spotted hanging out in the new Aberdeen Center of Innovation!  The kid-cozy cubbies in The STEM Center offer a nice place to relax and read, or play on a tablet.

Teddy Bear Sean got the chance to just sit back and kick his feet up while the busy kids around him were learning all about STEM in our wonderful new facility.

Happy New Year!

Thank You! Thank You! THANK YOU- To all of those who made our 25th anniversary year a huge success, we are so grateful for your support. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we had a phenomenal mission-driven year that culminated in the Grand Opening of our STEM Center of Innovation at the Aberdeen Club.

What's in store for 2016? It's the Year of the Girl!

Read on to discover more about Year of the Girl and check out all of our highlights below to learn more about what we are doing to encourage, inspire, and support #GreatFutures.

Year of the Girl

In 2015 we celebrated a huge milestone- 25 years of service in Harford County!  We were blown away by the support and pride of our community members, and are dedicated to continue this momentum in the new year.

Year of the Girl is about bringing awareness to the many girl-focused programs the Clubs offer. Be on the look out for program highlights in each issue of our Newsletter.

 Girls
Go Global

Girls Go Global is a new program where we take our Middle School ladies and look at the problems women and children face around the world.

Knowing that male students are over three times more likely to be interested in STEM majors and careers compared to female students, STEM initiatives like Girls Go Global is the first step to helping girls realize their STEM potential.

Recently, Girls Go Global focused on the issue of African women spending hours a day carrying up to 40 pounds of water back to their villages. Our ladies in Girls Go Global brought together materials to make a more ergonomic solution. Great work ladies!

Aberdeen Club Reveals NEW Center of Innovation

On December 9th, we celebrated the Grand Opening of our STEM Center of Innovation, the first of 6 to be funded worldwide. The Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club wants to thank Raytheon, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, CBS EcoMedia, and our hardworking staff, for providing them with a fun and exciting place for our members to create and learn.

Join us out in the fresh air for the Aberdeen Harvest of Hope Garden!

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County is proud to have the Aberdeen Harvest of Hope Garden for 2016. This garden is a way to provide a source of affordable and healthy food for the community, while also serving as a full-scale interactive learning lab to engage kids in nutrition education. This project is integrated into our STEM programs, which will provide kids the opportunity to explore specific content areas such as water conservation, aquaponics, meteorology, and environmental sustainability.
