Faces of the Future

Julian M.
Age 15 - Aberdeen Club

Julian has been with Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County since 2004. That's a DOZEN years at the Club! He is always helping staff members clean up or move heavy things around. He also helps out with food service by making sure the younger children get something to eat.

Julian has volunteered several times to clean up the Teen Room or he'll do it without even asking. He is an all-around great kid with a Great Future ahead of him.

"The Boys & Girls Club is important to me because it keeps me off the streets and gives me an opportunity to help kids with school." -Julian, Age 15

STEM for Academically Rising Students
The  Young AFCEANs  from  Aberdeen Proving Ground  sponsor a week-long camp each year for many of our middle school members. The University Center hosted us last week as our members spent their time building, analyzing, creating, exploring, and discovering new opportunities for their futures.
"The best part was meeting so many new people and going on the really fun trips. We went to places like APG, ATC, and a GM factory in White Marsh. We also did some other fun things like when we programmed using Alice, a program that you can make mini movies from. It was a great learning experience and was a lot of fun." -Logan, 8th Grade

Country Artist Matt Stillwell Visits
A big thank you goes out to our Country Star friend, Matt Stillwell , and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation for their participation in our Badges for Baseball program with the Harford County Sheriff's Office .

On top of this, our campers at Camp Hidden Valley were treated to a private performance. Matt took time while he was in town to tour the camp, meet the kids, sing a few songs, hold a dance off and even give advice to one of our own future stars. "Uncle" Matt, as he was being called by the campers by the end of the day, even took time to sign many autographs before heading out for the day.

Landbeck Donation

A wonderful afternoon was spent with the Landbeck and Garner families. They have generously donated two fruit trees in loving memory of a couple of very special men, Maxwell Defiance Landbeck and Bruce Edward Garner. The children of the Clubs will love harvesting the fruit from these beautiful trees for generations to come!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Chaps!

Last June, Chaps hosted a very successful opening event for their family and friends. They then generously donated all proceeds (which amounted to nearly $800!) to Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County. Thanks Chaps!! We think we can speak for the whole community when we say: can't wait to try all those delicious delicacies!
