Back to MotorSafe!

With schools now back in full-swing MV's MotorSafe Program will be out in force in 2011 with the aim of creating a responsible and safe attitude towards motorcycle use amongst primary school children by educating them on issues such as safety, the law and equipment.

March 23, 2011

Dear Clubs,

Welcome to the first installment of Motorcycling Victoria's
Club Information Bulletin. Here you will find useful and relevant information pertaining to club administration matters, event management and the general day-to-day running of your club.

This Bulletin will come out sporadically when the need arises, and will focus more on club matters, unlike the e-Newsletter that focuses more on news and events around Victoria. Please check regularly for both publications in your email inbox.

2011  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Motorcycling Victoria's 2011 Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

It will take place at Newport-Braybrook MCC Clubroom's, Cnr of
The Avenue & Cullen Street in Spotswood at 7.30pm.

We hope to see all Club Presidents, Secretaries and Delegates there!

EVENT VESTS & 2011  CLUB SECRETARY MANUAL

By now all Clubs should have received a quantity of Officials Vests in the post, along with a printed version of the 2011 Club Secretaries Manual, including a CD containing files of regularly used documents and forms.

It is recommended that Club Officials use the vests provided by Motorcycling Victoria at all events whenever possible. It is the aim for all Officials to be instantly and easily recognised by riders from one event to the next. Some of the other State Controlling Bodies are also running the same set up, which will add to uniformity and add a professional-look across the board.

The Club Secretary Manual is a great source of information and is recommended to be kept within easy reach at all times. There will be subtle changes that occur from year to year in the CSM, so it is important for ongoing Club Secretaries to read and be aware of these changes.

New Club Secretaries will find it most beneficial to become knowledgeable on many policies and procedures inside the CSM that will need to be followed correctly.

OFFICIALS & COACHING TRAINING COURSES

Plenty of Officials and Coaching Courses have been happening over the last few months, which is terrific news in the ongoing development of training the best Officials and Coaches in the state.

However, if you have not yet had the chance to be trained in either area and wish to do so, then please keep an eye on their respective sections on the website (Officials/Coaches) or contact MV's Development Officer Trent Zimbachs on (03) 9673 0612 or development@motorcyclingvic.com.au.

MOTORSAFE IN 2011

MV's MotorSafe Program is back in full-swing. Numerous schools have been visited across the state, and students are being educated on safe and responsible practices of motorcycling.

Part of this program now includes each student receiving a free 12 month Mini Licence, which will enable students to become fully-fledged MA licensed holders after their first year involved in motorcycle sport.

A Club Membership is still required, and we hope this assists all clubs by providing them with more Junior Members. This free licence is only available to participants of a MotorSafe Program, so for more information on having the program run at a school that's close-by to your club then please contact MV's MotorSafe Officer Dominique Pianalto on (03) 9673 0610 or at motorsafe@motorcyclingvic.com.au.

CLUB GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

There are plenty of Grant Opportunities available through various organisations, which are generally underutilised by Clubs.

Of particular note are grant opportunities for funding that goes towards the training of officials and coaches, plus support for club members traveling to National Championship Events. There are also opportunities for funding to provide equipment and safety in sport and recreational environments.

If you would like any further information or wish to discuss how you can make better use of these potential opportunities then please contact MV's Sport & Development Manager Mark Willingham on (03) 9673 0604 or at sport@motorcyclingvic.com.au.

SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS & ENTRY FORMS

It's that time of year again where events are taking place in all disciplines and in all corners of Victoria. As a result, Supp Regs & Entry Forms are being submitted to MV thick and fast.

In order for these to be published on MV's website as quickly as possible, so as to begin promotion of your event, please make sure that the correct procedures are followed and the correct form is used.

Supp Regs & Entry Forms are to be checked over and approved by the relevant discipline management committee before they are released.

You also need to follow the 2011 version of the Generic Supplementary Regulations & Event form, which is available on our website. This is to ensure that all relevant details are up-to-date and that the information provided meets the current legal requirements.

If you require any information about MV's Supp Regs submission process, and having them posted on the website, and/or released via a press release then please contact MV's Communications Officer Ryan Fritz on (03) 9673 0606 or at communications@motorcyclingvic.com.au.

WEBSITE DISCIPLINE PAGES

In 2011, Motorcycling Victoria will be continually upgrading it's website, from discipline pages to championship microsites, in an effort to provide you with all the important information easily and quickly.

Each specific discipline will have these handy pages, and will be your one-stop-shop for all your needs regarding your particular brand of motorcycle racing. Keep checking the website in the coming weeks when the pages go live!
