Ishee to be Inducted into MACJC Sports Hall of Fame

Former Copiah-Lincoln Community College head football coach Ray Ishee of Wesson will be inducted into the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) Sports Hall of Fame on April 25 at a banquet on the Rankin Campus of Hinds Community College.

Ishee has enjoyed success as an outstanding athlete and with a distinguished career as an educator, administrator, and coach on the high school and college levels. A native of Taylorsville, Ishee played football at Jones County Junior College where he was named first team Mississippi Junior College (MJC) All State in 1967 and was selected to play in the MJC All Star Game that year.

Davis Joins Coaching Staff
Former Copiah-Lincoln Community College quarterback Micah Davis ('08) is returning to the Wolfpack as a member of the coaching staff. Davis is the son of current head football coach Glenn Davis. He will take on an offensive role with an emphasis on the quarterbacks.

Davis knows the position and the offensive scheme well playing for the Wolfpack from 2007-2008.

Dr. R. Benjamin Lambert ('03) of Dalton, Georgia, was recently named Associate Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi and the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He is also a 2013 graduate of the UT Chattanooga Emergency Medicine Residency Program and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has been a full-time emergency physician at Hamilton since his graduation. For the last year, Lambert has served as the Associate Director of Quality.
Myrtis "Leisa" Stuart McElreath ('79) of Oxford was recently confirmed by the state senate on her appointment to the Mississippi State Crime Stoppers Board. In addition to her degree from Co-Lin, she received a bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice/Homeland Security from The University of Mississippi and is currently pursuing a master's degree in the Administration of Justice at Delta State.  She has also served on her local Crime Stoppers board for several years and is the president of the Lafayette County Republican Women's Organization.

Nursing graduates recognized at Baptist

Co-Lin has thirty-one graduates on the nursing staff at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, which recently received the nation’s top honor for nursing excellence. The Magnet designation is granted by the credentialing center of the American Nurses Association and considered worldwide as the ‘ultimate seal of quality.’

Foundation Inducts Seven into Hall of Fame

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation inducted seven new members into its Hall of Fame at a banquet held March 31 at the Thames Center on the college’s Wesson Campus. Those inducted were the Beall Family (Lee Beall of Willard, Missouri and his sister Ann Kimbrough of Raymond), Brookhaven/Lincoln County Rotary Club, Elizabeth Hadskey High of Durham, North Carolina, Mississippi Humanities Council, Tommy and the late Annette Sasser of Bogue Chitto, Bradley and Nena Smith of Wesson, and Jimmy and Tammy Torrey of Meadville.

Foundation Supports Science Quest

The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation recently donated STEM kits to high school sponsors as part of the 32nd annual Science Quest competition. Pictured from left are, Co-Lin Foundation Executive Director, DJ Preiss; Niki Warren, Simpson County Academy sponsor; Diana White, Enterprise Attendance Center sponsor; Denise Thibodeaux, Natchez Cathedral High School sponsor; Ladona Anderson, Wesson Attendance Center sponsor; Vicki King, West Lincoln Attendance Center sponsor; and Leslie Hood, Brookhaven Academy sponsor.

Commencement Ceremonies Scheduled

Co-Lin will hold five graduation ceremonies May 5 – 14, 2017. Over 580 students will graduate.

Associate degree nursing students will hold their pinning/graduation ceremony on Friday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m., at Rea Auditorium on the Wesson Campus. Academic and Career-Technical Education graduates on the Wesson Campus whose last names begin with A-K will graduate on Wednesday, May 10, at 9:30 a.m. in Mullen Gymnasium, those whose last names begin with L-Z will graduate at 1:30 p.m. For those unable to attend the Wesson Campus on May 10, both ceremonies will be webcast live at www.colin.edu

On Thursday, May 11, the Simpson County Center will have their ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Magee High School Auditorium. Ceremonies will conclude with the Natchez Campus on Friday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the Natchez Convention Center. For more information about commencement ceremonies go to www.colin.edu
