CALL TO ARTISTS: GRIT: The Urban Landscape
September 12 - November 1, 2014 [All Co|So Galleries]
Submissions Due: July 21, 2014
The Copley Society of Art (Co|So) is seeking submissions for the upcoming national juried exhibition celebrating the urban landscape GRIT. Juried by Paul Ha, Director of MIT's List Visual Arts Center, GRIT unveils the raw fabric of the cityscape, delving into the interconnected nature of postmillennial life at its most fundamental level. Here, at the foundation of society, structure and chaos meld into one. GRIT is the examination of this intrinsic platform of the urban landscape.
ABOUT THE JUROR:
Paul Ha is currently the Director of the List Visual Arts Center, the contemporary art museum at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Known for presenting experimental and timely exhibitions, the List also oversees the active MIT's Percent-for-Art program, which has created one of the outstanding national collections of public art. Previous to the List, Ha was the Director of the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (CAM) 2002-2011, where he oversaw the construction and opening of the new museum designed by Brad Cloepfil. As the inaugural director, Ha positioned the CAM to be one of the leaders in the field of contemporary art, garnering national and international recognition for its exhibitions. Prior to joining the Contemporary, Ha was the Deputy Director of Programs and External Affairs at the Yale University Art Gallery and Executive Director of White Columns in New York. With over twenty-five years of professional experience in art, including museum administration, fundraising, and curating, Ha is known for his approachability and ability to build collaborative teams.
