RSM US Foundation Announces Spring Invasion Week Events 

Freshman event: RSM will be hosting a *NEW* program for freshmen called POWER UP! for those interested in pursuing a career in public accounting. The goal of POWER UP! is to provide insight into a growing firm and opportunities that public accounting can provide for them throughout their career.
 
Power Your Education Scholarship: The RSM US Foundation's national scholarship program is awarding 10 students with $10,000 scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year and an invitation to participate in RSM's externship. Please follow this link for more information and to learn how to apply.  Applications are due by Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

DHG Leadership Conference 2017  for Accounting Students 

Dixon Hughes Goodman will host its Annual Leadership Conference on May 16-18, 2017 in Charleston, South Carolina. The conference includes a dynamic lineup of speakers and offers students opportunities for hands-on team building and community service activities.   

  

The conference is open to sophomore and junior students who have declared, or intend to declare, accounting as their major and who currently have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA. Candidates should exhibit a desire to learn and be recognized as a leader among their peers.

COB 300 Applications for Summer and Fall 2017

The Academic Services Center is currently accepting COB 300 applications for Summer and Fall 2017.  All students who intend to take COB 300 in summer or fall must complete an application by Apr. 1.  Applications are only available through an academic advisor or peer advisor.  You may schedule this special advising session by visiting our Make An Appointment page.

Last Day to Completely Withdraw

The last day to withdraw from the university with cancellation of tuition charges is Jan. 27.

Assessment Day

Feb. 7 is JMU Assessment Day.  All students who have earned 45 to 70 credits as of the end of fall 2016 semester are required to participate.  For more information, including times and room assignments, go to  https://www.jmu.edu/assessment/Students/aboutAday.shtml.  Some programs require seniors to participate in departmental assessments.  Please carefully read all messages from your program/department.  Classes starting before 4:00 pm are cancelled so students may partake in assessment day activities.

Graduation Applications

If you plan to graduate in May or Aug. 2017 but have not yet submitted a graduation application, please do so immediately.  Applications are available online and in the ASC (Showker 205).  The deadline for submission was in the fall.  It is vital to submit your graduation application according to the Registrar's deadlines.  This ensures proper evaluation of your requirements and ensures your name will be published in the commencement program.

Transfer Mentor Kickoff

Are you a new business transfer this spring?  Sign-up for the Transfer Mentor program and attend a fun "kickoff" on Feb. 1 in Showker 202 from 7-8 pm.  New transfers will be paired with continuing business students to learn important ins and outs of being a JMU business major.

Academic Success Workshop:  Time Management

Having trouble managing your time?  Never seem to have enough time to do everything you want?  Join the Madison Advising Peers (MAPs) for a quick time management workshop on Feb. 8 in Showker G3 at 1:30-2 pm or 7-7:30 pm.

Scholarships for Future CPAs

 

College is an expensive investment in a student's future, and the  VirginiaSociety of CPAs (VSCPA) Educational Foundation wants to help. There are several scholarships available that range from $1,000 to $5,000.

 

You can apply today and learn more about the scholarship opportunities and eligibility requirements. All scholarship applications must be submitted by Apr. 1, 2017.
