Core Introduction to the Eight Key Questions Workshops

the Madison Collaborative: Ethical Reasoning in Action for an introductory workshop about the Eight Key Questions (8KQ), JMU's framework for ethical reasoning. Grounded in vital, cross-cultural values, you will explore the decision science behind this inquiry-based process, learn more about how ethics are acquired, and practice using the 8KQ in dynamic, small-group activities.

College of Business Research Experience for Undergraduates Program

Learn more about proper methods and approach to research projects by applying for the CoB Research Experience for Undergraduates Program. Students selected for this program receive paid, hands-on experience conducting research alongside faculty advisers working on their own projects, . Assistants work 5 to 10 hours per week. 

Deadline to apply for summer term appointments is Mar. 31!

This program is a resume builder that can lead to publication and independent research opportunities before you graduate. You are more likely to be paired if you jointly apply with a faculty member. We suggest you approach a faculty member to discuss this opportunity, and direct them to the website for information on their own application.

Scholarships for Future CPAs


College is an expensive investment in a student's future, and the  VirginiaSociety of CPAs (VSCPA) Educational Foundation wants to help. There are several scholarships available that range from $1,000 to $5,000.


You can apply today and learn more about the scholarship opportunities and eligibility requirements. All scholarship applications must be submitted by Apr. 1, 2017.

Calling all World Travelers and Photographers 

The Center for Global Engagement is happy to announce the 2017 International Week theme, "Global Engagement: Out of Many, One" along with the 17th annual I-Week Photo Contest.  Our hope for the future lies in our ability to connect with one another and collaborate. Since 2000, members of the JMU community have submitted photographs documenting their travels around the globe.
Current students, faculty, staff and official affiliates of JMU are encouraged to submit their best photos to exemplify this year's theme in the following four categories: 
1.     People
2.     Nature
3.     Architecture
4.     Miscellaneous
We welcome photos taken anywhere on the globe.  The deadline for submission of photos is Fri., Sept. 8.  For further contest rules and to submit your photos, use this link.  
Winning photos will be on display in the Prism Gallery during International Week, starting Sept. 25, 2017.

The I-Week Photo Contest reception, during which photo contest winners will be honored, will take place on Thurs., Sept. 28 at 6:30 pm, in Festival's Prism Gallery

Academic Services Center Corner

Course Withdraw Deadline - March 17

The last day to withdraw from a semester course is Fri., Mar. 17. A withdraw results in a 'W' on your transcript.  It does not impact your GPA but it could have financial and progression ramifications. Consult with your professor and/or advisor if you are uncertain a withdraw is in your better interest.

Summer Registration Begins March 20

Advance registration for JMU summer courses begin Mon., Mar. 20.  Check MyMadison for your enrollment appointment.

Courses for Transfer Credit

Are you considering taking a course at home this summer?  There are many policies governing acceptable transfer credit. Consult with your academic advisor before enrolling.  And remember, JMU requires advance permission by completing the Permission to Take Courses for Transfer Credit form available on the Registrar's website and in the ASC.
Express Advising Returns to Showker Lobby

Visit us Mar. 20 - Apr. 6 for Express Advising to get your quick advising and registration questions answered.  An ASC representative will be stationed in the Showker Lobby at various times over 3 weeks leading up to fall advance registration. No appointment necessary.  Just stop by!

COB 300 Applications for 
Summer and Fall 2017
The Academic Services Center is currently accepting COB 300 applications for Summer and Fall 2017.  All students who intend to take COB 300 in summer or fall must complete an application by Apr. 1.  Applications are only available through an academic advisor or peer advisor.  You may schedule this special advising session by visiting our Make An Appointment

Graduating in December?

Graduation applications for December commencement are due to your advisor by Apr. 14.  Why so early?  It's to ensure a thorough review by the ASC and the Registrar.  Don't delay.  Submit today.
