Welcome Back! I hope you enjoyed time to relax and unwind over the long holiday break. We're up and running again as Spring Semester has begun, and while it might not feel like spring yet, the campus is full of life as we welcome the excitement and energy of our students as we start anew.

Take a look at the new photo banner of some of our fantastic art students at the top of the CoLA Weekly.  These photos are from a visit late last semester to Penny Park's Intermediate Painting class and show several students working on self-portraits.  Look closely and you'll see the photos capture each student three times - one in real life, a reflection in the mirror, and the painted version on canvas.  Pretty impressive work!

Speaking of our amazing students, take a look at this video featuring some of our best and brightest. In addition to highlighting our degrees and programs, this video promotes that our students are learning many valuable skills in CoLA.  As one student in the video says, "You're not starting a degree within the College of Liberal Arts; you're opening a gateway of opportunities to be successful in everything that you do."  As we work more closely on recruitment initiatives, this video will be a great tool to share with perspective students.

The general scholarship application for Wright State scholarships is now closed, but there are two additional scholarships open only to CoLA students. Please help promote these great opportunities to your students:
Kudos to Brittany Erwin, advisor in CLASS, for winning the Region 5 Individual Scholarship Grant 2017 from NACADA, the global community for academic advising. She plans to use the grant to attend the regional conference and hopes to present a session on Appreciative Advising as well as the importance of "disarming" with, as Brittany puts it, "lovely office space."
