Thanks to everyone involved in taskforce activity during month of June! Activity highlights are listed below.  

   

  • Held taskforce meetings; Bi-monthly, Policy Team, Education Team, Board Governance and Nominating Committees, and with Evaluator
  • Participated in; UDETC & CADCA webinars, Cobb Community Collaborative meetings, DBHDD Community Prevention Alliance Workgroup meetings
  • Meet with Cobb Commissioners in support of proposed social host ordinance 
  • Conducted & analyzed assessments required for DBHDD grant; 9-17 year olds, 18-25 year olds, 26 and older, retail availability surveys, and law enforcement surveys
  • Enforcement Team conducted compliance checks, party patrols, safety checkpoints, shoulder taps & other operations
  • Fundraiser; Board is still selling 300 raffle tickets (see more below
  • PR and Communication; Mopdog represented the taskforce to media and met with stakeholders 
  • Social media presence; lots of postings on Facebook and Twitter

  •

    JULY PARTNER HIGHLIGHT: MEDIA

       

    Our Media partners play a vital role in helping to realize our vision and mission, including: 1) using their unique position to advance social and public policy goals to reduce underage and youth binge drinking, 2) covering stories about what is being done to prevent problems, not just reporting consequences of underage drinking incidences, and 3) being an advocate for community change and challenging community assumptions.

    Taskforce Happenings

    Public Hearings for Social Host Ordinance, July 10th at 9:00 a.m. and July 24th at 7:00 p.m. - Cobb Commissioner's Meetings, advocates needed to show support! Contact Mazi Mazloom or Cathy Finck.

     

    Policy Team Collecting Signed Social Host Resolutions  - ask your HOA (Home Owner's Association) or civic group to sign resolution and return.    

     

    Education Team meeting, July 9th - 11:30 a.m. Cobb Central Library in Marietta, volunteers needed to help revamp website! Contact Pat Giuliani.

    CADCA Mid-year Training Institute - CAT team of 5 heads to Nashville, TN to attend Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Mid-year Training Institute, July 22nd - 26th!
