Summer 2017

Regular Academic Year 2017-2018
Indigenous Education, Inc. is excited to announce the opening of the Cobell Scholarship Application through OASIS for the 2017-2018 Academic Year

This application process differs from prior years.
Applicants will be matched into the appropriate application - vocational, undergraduate, or graduate - based on responses provided in the general application. 

The most current information will always be on the Cobell Scholarship Website as well as the Facebook page, and other social media. 
How to Apply for the Cobell Scholarship (Step-by-Step)
Video Series: Part 1, the General Application 

To apply to the Cobell Scholarship Program, all Summer 2017 and Academic Year 2017/2018 applicants will self-report the following: 
  • Membership in a US Federally-recognized Tribe (or 1/4 verifiable descent of multiple US Federally-recognized tribes); and,
  • Intention to enroll full-time as a degree-seeking student attending a public or private non-profit institutions (without exception); and,
  • A qualifying GPA, as listed in OASIS, for the selected academic level (vocational, undergraduate, graduate). Note: Priority will be given to applicants demonstrating overall academic excellence; and must,
  • Meet the deadline to submit a completed application on OASIS by March 31, 2017, 11:59:59 PM Mountain Standard Timewhen OASIS will automatically close.

    Academic Year graduate and undergraduate level applicants will also:
  • Provide contact information for an individual who can attest to academic history, ability and promise; and must,
  • Provide contact information for an individual who can attest to continued community engagement; and must, 

    Final scholar selection (or denial) will be communicated, via email and OASIS, between May 15, 2017 and June 1, 2017

Helpful tips to consider while completing the application:
  • Double and triple check responses for spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. 
  • Be sure to carefully read all question prompts carefully, then respond to the question in it's entirety - use an economy of words. 
  • Use a dedicated email that won't expire and which you will check throughout your college career (i.e. john.doe @ anymail.com).
  • Notify the references that they will be receiving an email from [email protected]
** Please note: Due to FERPA regulations, IEI will only respond to  the person for which the scholarship application is submitted. An application completed by anyone other than the applicant may be grounds for denial of scholarship.**
If you have already applied for a Cobell Scholarship, or have begun an application in OASIS, please be sure to update your general application as changes have been made. Please do not create a new application as multiple applications from the same individual may all be denied.
