Leadership Development and Succession Planning

The long-term success of an organization likely will depend on the people it chooses and develops as its future leaders. However, because career development and succession planning are seldom executed flawlessly, if at all, many organizations find themselves without a pipeline of qualified, talented, and capable people to move into key roles when vacancies arise. This shortage is an age old issue organizations face, and there are no easy or inexpensive remedies. However, there are solutions available and methods to avert the leadership deficit.

As the healthcare industry moves from payment for volume to payment for value, the focus of compensation design has become more sophisticated. It is moving away from the "pick a percentile" method used to determine the productivity incentive rate per wRVU and adding other components on top of the productivity incentive. And beginning to focus on the true alignment of pay and productivity, while realizing that pay, per market data, is total cash compensation, which includes all other forms of compensation, not just productivity incentive compensation.
